About the Role:

design, fabrication, assembly, and testing

The role is execution-heavy and workshop-driven, with ownership from concept to physical build and field validation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the 

  mechanical assembly of the laser weeder system

  , including chassis, mounts, and sub-modules.
• Design and fabricate 

  small to medium-sized rigs, jigs, and test fixtures

   for development and validation.
• Build and iterate:, Camera mounts and lighting mounts for perception systems, Waterproof and dust-resistant enclosures for cameras and electronics
• Sheet-metal, CNC-machined, and 3D-printed parts
• Design and assemble 

  electronic enclosures

   with proper sealing, thermal considerations, and serviceability.
• Build mechanical rigs for the perception team including Camera + lighting + electronics test setups, Alignment and calibration fixtures, support testing by building mounts and rigs for: Motors, gearboxes, encoders, sensors, and bearings
• Design and assemble 

  gimbal mechanics

   and 

  2-DOF / 3-DOF mechanisms

   for precision actuation.
• Work on structural components including frames, brackets, and chassis parts.
• Collaborate closely with robotics, embedded, perception, and field-ops teams.
• Support field testing, iteration, repair, and redesign based on real-world feedback.
• Maintain basic documentation for assemblies, parts, and builds.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong hands-on experience in mechanical assembly and fabrication.
• Familiarity with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar).
• Experience building rigs, jigs, or test fixtures.
• Familiarity with: Sheet metal fabrication, CNC-machined components, 3D printing (design + iteration)
• Experience working with motors, gears, shafts, bearings, encoders, and sensors.
• Understanding of mechanical structures, frames, and chassis design.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and CAD models.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience designing or building: Waterproof / dust-resistant (IP-rated) enclosures and Gimbal mechanisms or multi-DOF systems
• Experience working with robotics, agricultural machinery, or outdoor equipment.
• Exposure to vibration, thermal, or durability-focused mechanical design.
