Job Summary

The Design Engineer – Production will be responsible for converting design concepts into detailed production drawings and technical documents for manufacturing. The role involves coordinating with design, production, and installation teams to ensure manufacturability, feasibility, material optimisation, and quality output for interior projects, retail store fixtures, and custom furniture.

Key Responsibilities1. Technical Drawings & Production Planning

• Prepare detailed production drawings, GFCs, and fabrication drawings for furniture, fixtures, and interior elements.
• Develop 3D models, 2D drafting, exploded views, assembly drawings, and BOQs.
• Ensure drawings are accurate, practical, and aligned with production capability.
• Optimize designs for ease of manufacturing, cost efficiency, and quality.

2. Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate with the Design Team to understand project concepts and technical requirements.
• Work closely with Production, CNC, Purchase, and Installation teams for execution feasibility.
• Provide technical clarifications during fabrication and installation.

3. Material & Process Knowledge

• Strong understanding of wood, plywood, MDF, laminates, veneers, acrylic, glass, hardware, metal etc.
• Good knowledge of manufacturing processes like cutting, edge-banding, routing, CNC machining, finishing, assembly, etc.
• Recommend materials and hardware alternatives for cost or time efficiency.

4. Quality & Standards

• Ensure all drawings follow company standards, accuracy, and safety norms.
• Conduct drawing checks before production release.
• Support QC team in identifying defects related to design or production drawings.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain drawing records, revisions, project files, and material specifications.
• Provide BOM/BOQ with correct quantities and specifications.
• Assist in preparation of production schedules and project timelines.

Skills & Requirements

• Diploma / Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Architecture, or Interior Design Engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, Pytha, or similar design tools.
• Experience in interior manufacturing, modular furniture, or retail fixtures.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read, interpret, and execute technical drawings.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
