Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manager to lead both Payroll and HR Operations with specialization in Workday. This role involves overseeing payroll compliance and accuracy for UK-based employees, managing HR processes including onboarding, and optimizing Workday functionalities to enhance employee experience and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage end-to-end payroll operations for UK employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Oversee payroll audits, statutory reporting, and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with Finance and HR teams to align payroll strategies with business goals.
  • Drive automation and process improvements in payroll systems and workflows.
  • Resolve escalated payroll issues and ensure timely communication with stakeholders.
  • Manage HR operations with a focus on onboarding and employee lifecycle processes using Workday.
  • Supervise HR team members and coordinate cross-functional onboarding activities.
  • Configure and optimize Workday modules for onboarding, data management, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, GDPR, and internal policies.
  • Generate HR and onboarding metrics and present insights to senior leadership.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in HR and payroll operations, including team leadership.
  • Expert knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC compliance, and statutory payments.
  • Hands-on experience with Workday HCM, especially onboarding and core HR modules.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and HR reporting tools (e.g., Workday, Power BI).
  • Certification in Payroll (e.g., CIPP) and/or Workday is highly desirable.
  • Ability to manage audits, drive strategic initiatives, and lead cross-functional teams.
