Manager- Retail Underwriting

Role Overview: As a Manager- Underwriting Management at Prudential Health India (PHI), you will be part of a team dedicated to making Indians healthier and bridging the health protection gap. You will play a crucial role in defining and constructing a new age underwriting workflow that is customer-centric and tech-enabled. Your responsibilities will include applying clinical expertise in decision-making, evaluating prevailing underwriting practices, and managing the underwriting system and rules. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing clinical and medical analysis for pricing and risk assessment selections, managing partner vendors for the underwriting process, and setting up the groundwork for running onboarding and underwriting management processes. Key Responsibilities: - Define and construct a new age underwriting workflow that is customer-centric and tech-enabled. - Apply clinical expertise in decision-making and evaluation of prevailing underwriting practices. - Align with cross-functional key stakeholders and manage health advisors and other partners involved in sourcing. - Map and maintain SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and TATs (Turn Around Times). - Develop and own underwriting system and rules integrated with sourcing interfaces. - Provide clinical and medical underwriting analysis for pricing and risk assessment selections. - Manage partner vendors for the underwriting process and set up the groundwork for running onboarding and underwriting management processes. - Prepare clinical and medical analysis based on employer group utilization and claims data. - Assist in Actuarial research and studies and product development initiatives. - Manage team members, conduct work appraisals, and foster team growth. - Develop training, coaching, and mentoring programs, resolve conflicts, and manage attrition. Qualifications Required: - Doctor (MBBS preferred / BAMS / BHMS / BDS). - Decisive and creative individual with quick decision-making and good judgment skills. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong negotiation skills. - Open to embracing change and managing it effectively. - 7+ years of experience in medical underwriting and at least 6 years of exclusive experience in health insurance underwriting. - Experience in managing teams with members from medical and non-medical backgrounds. - Ability to manage partners for day-to-day transactions with a focus on qualitative outcomes.
