Manager- Retail Underwriting

As a Manager- Underwriting Management at Prudential Health India (PHI), your role is pivotal in shaping the underwriting workflow to be more customer-centric and tech-enabled. Your responsibilities include: - Defining and constructing a new age underwriting workflow - Applying clinical expertise in decision making - Evaluating prevailing underwriting practices and conducting market comparison and data analysis - Aligning with cross-functional key stakeholders - Owning process adherence and managing health advisors and other partners - Mapping and maintaining Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Turn Around Times (TATs) - Defining and owning underwriting systems and rules integrated with sourcing interfaces - Providing clinical and medical underwriting analysis for pricing and risk assessment - Managing partner vendors for underwriting processes - Setting up the groundwork for onboarding and underwriting management processes - Leading team management, performance appraisals, and growth initiatives - Developing training, coaching, and mentoring programs for the team - Handling conflict resolution and attrition management Qualifications required for this role include: - Doctor (MBBS preferred /BAMS/BHMS/BDS) - 7+ years of medical underwriting experience with at least 6 years in health insurance underwriting - Experience managing teams with diverse backgrounds - Strong decision-making, analytical, communication, and negotiation skills To excel in this role, you should: - Be a decisive and creative individual - Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills - Be open to embracing change and managing it effectively - Be passionate about consumer behavior, culture, and leveraging digital tools - Have a strong clinical knowledge and the ability to make clinical decisions - Enjoy co-creation, collaboration, and working in transparent cultures - Take full responsibility for your team's output while focusing on solving customer needs Additionally, having read books like Blue Ocean Strategy, Measure What Matters, and Zero to One, and having real stories of challenging conventions can make you stand out.
