Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Responsible for negotiating Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and related commercial arrangements with industrial and commercial consumers, DISCOMs, and open access clients. The candidate should possess strong technical understanding of power generation and open access systems along with the ability to negotiate, structure, and close commercial deals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and engage potential consumers for sale of renewable power through Open Access, Captive, and Group Captive modes.
  • Lead commercial discussions, pricing models, and negotiation of PPAs and related agreements.
  • Conduct techno-commercial feasibility studies for potential clients based on consumption patterns, tariff structures, and grid connectivity.
  • Coordinate and liason with regulatory, legal, and SLDC/TRANSCO authorities for approvals and compliance related to power supply.
  • Understand and explain technical aspects such as scheduling, metering, losses, and energy accounting to clients.
  • Work closely with the technical and project execution teams to align commercial proposals with project capabilities.
  • Prepare and present commercial offers, proposals, and tender submissions.
  • Maintain relationships with existing and potential clients to ensure long-term partnerships.
  • Track market trends, regulatory changes, and tariff updates to advise management and update commercial strategies.
  • Ensure all contracts and agreements are executed as per organizational and statutory guidelines.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems / Energy or related field. MBA (Marketing) preferred.
  • 5–10 years of experience in power sector, preferably in renewable energy sales, open access, or PPA management.
  • Strong understanding of energy regulations, open access framework, and tariff policies.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle both technical and commercial discussions with clients and authorities.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis related to power consumption and tariff calculations.
  • Willingness to travel within and outside the state as required.
