Manager Business Development

Role & responsibilities

Business Growth & Revenue Development

• Drive sales of CDMO (Contract Development & Manufacturing Organization) services in the domestic market with a strong focus on Gujarat-based pharma and biotech clients.
  
• Achieve assigned sales targets through structured client acquisition, retention, and expansion strategies.
  
• Identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities within existing accounts.

Market Development & Strategy

• Map the Gujarat pharma ecosystem (innovators, generics, specialty players, and MSME pharma companies).
  
• Develop a strategic market penetration plan for the domestic CDMO segment.
  
• Monitor competitor activities, market trends, and regulatory shifts to identify new opportunities.
  

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

• Build long-term, trust-based relationships with decision-makers including R&D, procurement, and supply chain heads.
  
• Serve as the primary point of contact for client queries, proposals, and negotiations.
  
• Ensure superior client experience by aligning business needs with CDMO service capabilities.
  

Proposal Development & Commercial Negotiation

• Collaborate with internal teams (R&D, production, quality, regulatory, finance) to prepare tailored proposals.
  
• Lead pricing discussions, contract negotiations, and closure of commercial agreements.
  
• Ensure all proposals meet compliance and service delivery standards.
  

Collaboration & Coordination

• Partner with technical, operations, and project management teams to ensure smooth onboarding of new projects.
  
• Provide market feedback to senior leadership for strategic planning.
  
• Work with the corporate marketing team to support campaigns, product launches, and client presentations.
  

Sales Operations & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of sales pipeline, forecasts, and client interactions in CRM.
  
• Present monthly and quarterly business development reports highlighting achievements, gaps, and market insights.
  
• Track and report key sales metrics (leads generated, conversions, revenue realization).
  

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure adherence to all ethical marketing practices, company policies, and domestic pharma regulatory guidelines.
  
• Uphold confidentiality and compliance in all client interactions and contract management.

Preferred candidate profile

Preferred Candidate Profile

1. Educational Qualification

• Graduate in

  Pharmacy / Science

  with MBA in Marketing or Business Management (preferred)/Any graduate.
• Strong understanding of

  pharma / biotech sector

  especially CDMO formulation development & manufacturing.

2. Experience

• 7–10 years

  of experience in

  business development / sales

  in pharmaceutical services (CDMO, contract manufacturing).
• Proven track record of driving domestic pharma sales in

  Gujarat region

  with established client connections.
• Experience in handling

  end-to-end BD cycle

  – lead generation, client engagement, proposal management, negotiation, and deal closure.

3. Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of

  pharma value chain

  (R&D, formulations, manufacturing, regulatory environment).
• Excellent

  networking and relationship-building skills

  with pharma decision-makers.
• Strong

  commercial acumen

  and ability to conduct pricing/contract negotiations.
• Proficiency in

  CRM tools, MS Office (Excel/PowerPoint)

  , and structured reporting.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with technical, regulatory, and operations teams.
