Job Title: Mainframe Developer (CICS)

Job Summary

The Mainframe Developer (CICS) is responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting mainframe-based applications running in CICS online environments. This role involves working with COBOL, JCL, DB2/VSAM, and CICS transaction processing systems to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of critical business applications.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development & Maintenance

• Develop, test, and implement mainframe applications using

  COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, and DB2

  .
• Design and modify

  CICS maps, programs, transactions

  , and BMS screens.
• Troubleshoot CICS online programs, transaction failures, and ABENDs.
• Perform

  code enhancements, fixes, and performance tuning

  of CICS transactions.

System Support & Operations

• Monitor and support

  CICS regions

  , transactions, and system performance.
• Analyze system logs and dump analysis using tools such as

  IBM Fault Analyzer, Abend-AID, or IPCS

  .
• Work with infrastructure teams to ensure CICS region stability and resource availability.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Develop and execute

  unit, integration, and regression tests

  .
• Validate program functionality in CICS test regions before migration to production.
• Collaborate with QA teams to resolve defects and performance issues.

Collaboration & Documentation

• Work closely with business analysts to translate requirements into technical designs.
• Prepare and maintain

  technical specifications, design documents, and flow diagrams

  .
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DBAs, system programmers, and middleware teams.

Production Support

• Provide

  on-call support

  for production incidents involving CICS-based applications.
• Investigate and resolve real-time transaction failures or performance degradation issues.
• Participate in release cycles, deployments, and change management processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong programming experience in:

• COBOL

• CICS (BMS maps, transactions, EIB control blocks, COMMAREA)

• JCL

• DB2 or VSAM

• Deep understanding of

  CICS architecture

  , regions, transaction lifecycles, and performance tuning.
• Experience using mainframe tools such as:
