Job Description

Industry & Sector:

A Tier-1 financial services technology provider specializing in high-volume transaction processing and legacy modernization for global banks.DB2 Database Administrator

Workplace:

On-site, IndiaRole & Responsibilities

Manage, monitor, and tune DB2 subsystems on z/OS for 24×7 mission-critical uptime.
Design and execute backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery strategies using IBM utilities and copy pools.
Implement schema changes, data migrations, and object version control across development, test, and production LPARs.
Collaborate with application teams to optimise SQL, design indexes, and resolve locking/contention issues.
Automate health checks, capacity planning, and alerting with REXX, JCL, and performance tools such as OMEGAMON.
Enforce security and compliance via RACF, auditing, and vulnerability remediation.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

5+ years administering DB2 for z/OS in enterprise environments.
Expertise with IBM utilities (LOAD, REORG, COPY, RECOVER) and performance monitors (DB2PM, RMF).
Hands-on experience in SQL optimisation, buffer-pool tuning, and data sharing.
Proficiency in JCL, REXX, and automation scripting.
Solid understanding of RACF, encryption, and data-privacy controls.

Preferred

Experience with IMS DB/DC or IDMS coexistence.
Knowledge of HADR, GDPS, or Sysplex data-sharing architectures.
Exposure to DevOps pipelines integrating mainframe deployments (UrbanCode, Git).
