Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Capacity and Performance Analyst with strong experience in performance monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning in IBM z/OS environments. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of identifying system bottlenecks, implementing performance improvements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal system performance.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Monitoring & Analysis: Use tools like RMF, SMF, and others to monitor and analyze mainframe performance metrics.
Capacity Planning: Forecast future resource needs, track usage trends, and implement strategies to meet evolving business demands.
System Tuning: Tune z/OS systems and subsystems (e.g., CICS, DB2, MQ) for optimal performance and stability.
Reporting & Recommendations: Prepare detailed reports on performance trends and capacity utilization with actionable recommendations.
Incident Resolution: Act swiftly to diagnose and resolve performance-related incidents.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of configurations, tuning efforts, and capacity forecasts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with infrastructure, DBAs, and development teams to resolve performance concerns.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years in mainframe performance and capacity roles (z/OS environment).
Tools & Technologies: Proficiency with RMF, SMF, SAS/MXG, and performance tuning tools.
Strong Understanding of: SYSPLEX performance metrics, workload management (WLM), and system internals.
Communication Skills: Ability to clearly document findings and communicate with technical/non-technical stakeholders.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with CICS, DB2, MQ subsystems
Hands-on with SAS, MXG, or other capacity planning tools
Exposure to SYSPLEX configurations and optimization
