About the role
Localization Engineer
In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with program managers and localization teams to provide technical support, build automation scripts, and optimize processes for scalability and cost-effectiveness. You will research, design, and implement solutions to address localization challenges across multiple use cases, including: LLM-only translations , Transcriptions , Subtitling , Prompting & File manipulation and conversion
What you'll do
Engineering & Automation:
Design, implement, and maintain scripts, workflows, and automation that streamline localization processes while ensuring scalability and efficiency.Technical Problem-Solving:
Research and resolve challenges related to translation, transcription, subtitling, and GenAI-driven localization use cases.Tool & System Integration:
Build and manage integration points between internal tools, third-party services, and localization workflows to ensure seamless delivery.Quality & Process Improvements:
Define and implement best practices to improve localization quality, optimize performance, and reduce operational overhead.Support & Training:
Provide technical guidance and training to program managers and team members to enable efficient tool usage and avoid bottlenecks.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with engineering, operations, and program management teams to capture requirements, deliver solutions, and strengthen Indium’s localization ecosystem.Data & Insights:
Partner with analysts and engineers to build dashboards and reporting mechanisms to track performance, quality, and cost metrics.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 2+ years of experience in technical program management or engineering support for localization workflows.
- 1+ year of experience in localization within the technology industry (client or vendor side).
- Understanding of GenAI concepts, including MT engines, LLM models, parameter sizing, cost structures, and deployment strategies for production workflows.
- Proficiency in scripting and data tools such as
Python, Perl, Shell, Postman, and SQL
. - Ability to simplify and optimize complex processes with a focus on automation.
- Familiarity with localization and internationalization processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across functions.
- Self-directed, proactive, and resourceful, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Good to have
- 3+ years of experience handling large-scale client localization requirements as a technical program manager or engineer.
- Hands-on experience leading MT/LLM-driven localization programs.
- Familiarity with
Google Cloud services
and cloud-based localization workflows.
