Role Overview
The Linux L2 Administrator provides advanced support for Linux-based systems, handling escalated issues from L1 support and ensuring system stability, security, and performance. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams.
Key Responsibilities
•
System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and related infrastructure.
•
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex issues escalated from L1 support, including OS, hardware, and network problems.
•
Performance Optimization: Monitor and tune system performance, including kernel parameters and file systems.
•
Security Management: Implement security patches, perform audits, and ensure compliance with security policies.
•
High Availability & DR: Design and manage clustering, replication, and backup strategies for business continuity.
•
Automation: Develop scripts (Bash, Python) for automating routine tasks and configuration management.
•
Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams (network, storage, application) to resolve issues and implement solutions.
•
Documentation: Maintain detailed technical documentation and contribute to process improvements.
•
Escalation Handling: Liaise with L3 support for unresolved or highly complex issues.
Required Skills
•
Strong knowledge of Linux OS (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
•
Experience with networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
•
Familiarity with virtualization (VMware, KVM) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
•
Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python).

•
Understanding of monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix).
•
Knowledge of security hardening and compliance standards.
•
Hands-on experience with backup and recovery solutions.
•
Good communication and documentation skills.
Qualifications
•
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field.
•
Certifications: RHCSA/RHCE preferred; ITIL is a plus.
•
4+ years of experience in Linux administration or technical support.
