Job Description

Job Summary:

The Legal Manager will oversee all legal matters related to the companys real estate projects, including land acquisition, project approvals, contract management, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. The role involves providing strategic legal advice to safeguard the organization’s interests and ensure smooth execution of all property-related transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Land & Property Matters:

  • Conduct legal due diligence for land acquisition and property development.
  • Review and verify title deeds, sale deeds, mother documents, and encumbrance certificates.
  • Coordinate with external advocates for title verification and legal opinions.
  • Draft, vet, and finalize sale agreements, joint development agreements (JDAs), MoUs, lease deeds, and related documents.

2. Project Approvals & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with RERA, local municipal laws, and state government regulations.
  • Liaise with government authorities such as DTCP, CMDA, TN RERA (or respective authorities), and revenue departments.
  • Maintain records of approvals, licenses, and permits related to real estate projects.

3. Contract Management:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with vendors, contractors, consultants, and customers.
  • Maintain contract repository and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Mitigate contractual risks through proper documentation and legal safeguards.

4. Litigation & Dispute Resolution:

  • Manage all ongoing litigation, arbitration, and consumer cases.
  • Coordinate with external counsel for representation in courts and tribunals.
  • Maintain MIS for legal cases and provide regular updates to management.

5. Advisory & Strategic Support:

  • Provide legal inputs for new business ventures, project structuring, and partnerships.
  • Advise management on implications of new laws, policies, or judicial decisions.
  • Conduct internal training on legal compliance and risk awareness.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: LLB / LLM from a reputed university.
  • Experience: 5–12 years of relevant experience in the Real Estate industry (developer, builder, or property consultant).
  • Preferred Background: Experience in land acquisition, RERA compliance, and civil litigation management.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of real estate laws, RERA, land laws, and contract law.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Sound judgment with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Ability to manage external counsels and interface with government authorities.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
