ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Project Engineering & Coordinator will be responsible for leading and driving the complete lifecycle of Renewable Energy projects (100 MW+), covering pre-bid and bidding, techno-commercial evaluation, engineering coordination, project execution, EPC/vendor management, and site commissioning. The role requires strong technical depth, commercial acumen, and leadership capabilities to deliver large-scale Solar & Wind projects efficiently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pre-Bid & Techno-Commercial Activities
- Conduct site feasibility studies, land assessments, wind/solar resource analysis, and grid connectivity checks.
- Preparation of RFQ/RFP, TOR (Terms of Reference) of the bid document and floating of enquiries.
- Analyse tender documents (Solar & Wind), including technical specifications, commercial terms, SLAs, and contractual conditions.
- Prepare pre-bid queries, compliance matrices, risk registers, and deviation lists.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Finance, SCM, Legal, and Management teams for bid strategy and internal approvals.
- Evaluate BOQ, technical design parameters, cost drivers, and project constraints to develop competitive proposals.
Bidding & Proposal Development
- Lead the complete bid preparation process, including technical proposal, cost estimation, financial models, and bid documentation.
- Work closely with vendors, OEMs, EPCs for price collection, budgetary quotes, technical confirmations, and optimised solutions.
- Support preparation of CAPEX/OPEX modelling, tariff calculation, energy yield estimates (PV System, Wind PRO), and ROI analysis.
- Ensure all bid submissions are complete, compliant, and submitted within due timelines (offline/online).
- Attend pre-bid meetings, client interactions, and technical workshops during the bidding phase.
Post-Bid Support & Contract Finalisation
- Support post-bid clarifications, negotiation meetings, contract alignment, and final award processes.
- Conduct techno-commercial negotiations with EPC contractors, OEMs, and major suppliers.
- Finalise Scope of Work (SOW), technical annexures, technical specifications, SLAs, delivery schedules, and performance guarantees.
- Ensure smooth handover of awarded projects to execution teams with complete technical and contractual documentation.
Project Planning, Scheduling & Coordination
- Preparation of agenda for Project kick off meeting and finalise major terms of project schedules for engineering, procurement, transportation, construction, commissioning and HOTO (Handover Takeover)
- Prepare end-to-end project execution plans, project schedules, resource allocation, and milestone planning.
- Coordinate with EPC partners, internal engineering teams, logistics, QA/QC, safety, and finance teams.
- Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to budget, time, and quality targets.
- Conduct periodic project review meetings and track critical path activities.
Engineering & Design Coordination
- Review and approve detailed engineering documents for Solar PV systems, WTGs, BoP systems, substations, transmission lines, SCADA, and associated infrastructure.
- Coordinate with engineering consultants for layout optimisation, energy yield validation and design improvements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes (IEC, IS, IEEE, CEA) and grid regulations.
EPC, Vendor & Contractor Management
- Evaluate EPC proposals and supervise EPC execution during the project phase.
- Compel EPC contractor to follow contractual specifications, terms and condition along with guarantees & defect liability period.
- Finalise vendor lists, OEM selections, and subcontractor engagements for modules, inverters, WTGs, transformers, switchgear, BoP, and civil works.
- Recommendation to finance & accounts for issuance of milestone completion certificates.
- Track procurement status, delivery schedules, logistics challenges, and quality inspections.
- Handle change orders, contract deviations, commercial settlements, and billing verification.
Site Execution & Construction Supervision
- Track major clearances and approvals for project execution on timely manner.
- Lead site execution activities for all civil, mechanical, and electrical works.
- Ensure timely mobilisation of manpower, equipment, and materials.
- Conduct site audits to review installation quality, safety compliance, and progress.
- Resolve on-site technical and logistical challenges through coordinated communication with stakeholders.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Oversee testing and commissioning of Solar & Wind projects, including PR validation, plant availability, CUF evaluation, SCADA integration, and grid synchronisation.
- Ensure submission of warranties, O&M manuals, as-built drawings, and closure documents.
- Facilitate smooth handover to O&M teams along with performance guarantees and monitoring protocols.
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of Solar PV systems (fixed/trackers), inverters, MMS, WTG technologies, BoP systems, substations, and grid integration.
- Proficiency in energy modelling tools PVSyst, Helioscope (Solar), WindPRO / WAsP (Wind).
- Strong understanding of electrical systems HT/LT, switchgear, transformers, protection systems, SCADA.
Project Management & Leadership
- Ability to manage large cross-functional teams, EPC partners, consultants, and vendors.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in MSP/Primavera, MS Office, and project reporting dashboards.
Educational Qualification
- B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical / Mechanical / Renewable Energy Engineering.
- 15-20 years of experience in large-scale power plants, including 5-8 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in portfolio management and multi-project coordination.
- Certifications such as PMP, PSP, or PRINCE2 are an advantage.
- Certifications in Project Management / Solar PV Technology will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge on Primavera P6/MS Project, MS Excel (advanced), and data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is an advantage.
