Job Description

The Procurement Training Development Lead is responsible for designing, delivering, and continuously evolving Procurement capabilities and skill maturity. A key focus of this position is to embed upskilling as a strategic lever for procurement excellence ensuring that employees, stakeholders, and suppliers are equipped with the right knowledge, tools, and hands-on skills to drive performance and compliance.
The role will partner closely with the CPO, procurement leadership, category managers, Centers of Excellence (COEs), and end users to build a culture of continuous learning and capability development. It will also support PMO and Continuous Improvement (CI) through user adoption, and building across internal and external partners, in-depth process knowledge through targeted training interventions and change management initiatives.
 
Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Partner with procurement teams to identify skill gaps and training needs, and translate these into targeted learning solutions.
  • Leverage procurement domain expertise to design and deliver engaging live and virtual training sessions, workshops, and onboarding programs tailored to upskill and evolve procurement, stakeholder and supplier knowledge.
  • Develop and manage digital learning assets including e-learning modules, job aids, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other enablement materials to support procurement excellence.
  • Measure training effectiveness through participant feedback, assessments, and key performance indicators (KPIs), using insights to continuously improve program impact.
  • Maintain a global training calendar and coordinate sessions across regions to ensure consistent and timely delivery of learning initiatives.
  • Support change management efforts for new systems, tools, and process updates by creating and executing enablement strategies that drive user adoption.
  • Help integrate procurement content into enterprise onboarding programs in collaboration with HR, ensuring all company-wide users understand relevant procurement policies, tools, and processes.
  • Serve as a liaison with HR and Learning Development (LD), external training providers or consulting groups (as needed) to ensure alignment with enterprise learning platforms, standards, and governance.

Core Responsibilities (detailed, but not an exhaustive list)

1. Procurement Functional Training
  • Lead onboarding and continuous learning for procurement users.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive curriculum covering systems, processes, policies, and best practices.
  • Create a role-based maturity matrix to track placement and growth of procurement professionals.
  • Lead training on strategic sourcing processes (RFP/RFI, supplier selection, negotiation, contracting).
  • Develop materials for sourcing tools (eg, e-sourcing platforms, CLM systems).
  • Conduct onboarding and refresher sessions for sourcing professionals, responsible procurement.
2. Training Design Development
  • Conduct needs assessments collaborating with Procurement teams and use insights to design role-based learning paths for procurement professionals and stakeholders.
  • Develop training courses, job aids, and e-learning content using authoring tools and/or work with training development resources (internal or external).
  • Manage course creation and distribution via LMS platforms, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and standards.
  • Create assessments and apply industry-standard methodologies to measure training effectiveness.
  • Maintain course lifecycle and refresh schedules based on feedback and evolving needs. Additionally, own the development and release schedule for all procurement-related content, including third-party supplier training.
  • Lead annual learning planning sessions across procurement teams; coordinate with Vantive Learning for alignment.
  • Use ServiceNow case data and user feedback to identify knowledge gaps and drive improved training.
  • Develop and deliver foundational curriculum on AI in procurement to support digital literacy and innovation.
  • Maintain help content, FAQs, and self-service resources across procurement tools and processes.
  • Deliver training via LMS (e-learning), live-virtual sessions, and class-room formats.
  • Manage training budgets, resource requirements, track enrollments, and align learning methodologies with students globally and aligned with growth targets set by procurement.
3. Process Policy Enablement
  • Ensure sourcing teams understand procurement policies, thresholds, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide guidance on supplier onboarding, risk management, and audit readiness.
  • Support adoption of new sourcing tools and process changes.
5. Change Enablement Communications
  • Support COE and Procurement teams in drafting and distributing training communications.
  • Maintain procurement training content on intranet and collaboration platforms.
  • Contribute to change management efforts through stakeholder engagement and targeted messaging.
  • Own/develop training content for newsletters, FAQs, and other communications.
  • Monitor training metrics (completion rates, ratings, abandonment rates) to inform improvements.
6. Master Data Management (MDM) Training
  • Provide training on procurement data governance standards.
  • Guide teams through supplier creation and modification processes, emphasizing standardization and data quality.
  • Teach best practices to ensure consistent, clean master data across procurement functions.
7. Digital Enablement, Analytics Continuous Improvement
  • Educate procurement users on AI/ML applications, including use cases in sourcing, contract creation, and spend analysis.
  • Promote data integrity and system integration across procurement platforms to ensure seamless digital operations.
  • Drive analytics adoption and user enablement in collaboration with IT, digital, and data teams.
  • Align training and communications with project milestones, transformation initiatives, and continuous improvement (CI) goals.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and project management through targeted learning paths, coaching, and enablement strategies.
  • Provide actionable insights and training data to inform process enhancements, technology adoption, and functional maturity.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Learning Development, or related field.
  • MBA or Master s in Supply Chain strongly preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in procurement, including sourcing, contract management, transactional procurement, and training development/delivery.
  • Advanced proficiency in LMS platforms and e-learning tools; hands-on experience with Coupa, Cornerstone, iCertis, JD Edwards/ERP, and Pega.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders across functions.
  • Proven experience in leading change management and driving adoption.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and digital learning platforms.
  • Experience in a Procurement CoE or Shared Services environment.
  • Knowledge of compliance, sourcing, and supplier management.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence without authority.
