Position Overview:
Muktangan requires passionate Lead Faculty to join the Mathematics department. This role involves teacher education, curriculum development, innovation and testing of teaching methodologies and community engagement. The ideal candidate will approach maths education by integrating first principles with observational insights, grounding their teaching in evidence and historical explorations while inspiring new ideas and directions.

Muktangan is an innovative, inclusive, child- friendly educational project demonstrating how ordinary women and men, empowered with the right beliefs and skills, can drive extraordinary outcomes for children from their own aspiring communities. Over our 21 year-long journey, we have evolved into a Hub and Spokes model of Integrated Teacher and School Education with our teacher education centre as the Hub and 7 Muktangan run-municipal schools in Mumbai as spokes where we offer free, high-quality and inclusive English medium education from preschool to Grade 10 over 3800+ children from underserved communities and developed over 1000+ community members (majorly women) as teachers. We have partnered with UNICEF, BMC (Municipal), Maharashtra State Government and many NGOs to adapt the Muktangan model. Our Program is acknowledged by academic institutions and educationists locally such as Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), and internationally such as University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) in the U.S.A and BathSpa, Oxford & Cambridge Universities in the UK. Through our outreach initiatives and partnerships with the local and state government, NGOs, academic institutions both local and international, we have reached out to more than 97,000 children and more than 5,500 teachers and teacher educators across India. Role and Responsibilities:
To provide holistic support to department faculty, teacher educators and teachers to achieve better outcomes for teachers and students through a Plan-Do-Review process.
A. Planning/Conducting/Participating in:
· Orientation meetings with department faculty
· Internal department meetings
· Curriculum Understanding Design and Development (CUDD) meetings with Std. 9 and 10 teachers
· Subject pedagogy modules
· Pre-service Teacher Education and Outreach meetings
B. Planning, Facilitation and Documentation of:
· Curriculum planning with academic calendar for Std. 1 – 10
· Vacation Professional Development (PD) sessions
· Outreach sessions
· Pre-Service Teacher Education sessions and reports
· Quarterly In-service Teacher Education department reports
· Subject pedagogy modules
C. Human Management, Administration and Finance
· The allocation of responsibilities to department faculty both ongoing and emerging.
· Listing, maintenance and storage of resources (including intellectual property) ensuring economic utilization.
· Display and cleanliness of the department
· Ensure liaison and a spirit of collegiality, both within the department and across the organization.
· Conduct appraisals of self and concerned staff
· Design avenues to advocate Muktangan’s value proposition in a responsible way across different forums like seminars, paper presentations, social media etc.
D. Guidance and Supervision
· Engage in the capacity building of self, department faculty and teachers
· Ensure equitable distribution of work to department faculty and teachers
· Observing and giving effective feedback of Curriculum Understanding Design and Development (CUDD) meetings and classroom sessions
· Mentoring Pre-service teacher trainees
Educational Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in Mathematics with a B.Ed. degree
· Experience in education would be a strong asset.
· Experience with basic community research would be a strong asset.
Required Competencies:
· Commitment to the Vision and Mission of Muktangan
· Strong foundational knowledge of Mathematics at a higher secondary level.
· A strong passion for Mathematics and a desire for continuous learning.
· A keen interest in innovative Mathematics education and the ability to optimize and implement novel approaches in our classrooms.

· Must possess effective communication skills.
· Must demonstrate collaboration and integrity while working with others.
● Must possess relevant IT skills.
Remuneration:
Salary shall be at par with industry standards.
