Position Overview:
We are seeking a committed and dynamic Early Childhood Development (ECD) Faculty member to join at Muktangan. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute towards strengthening Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) practices through Outreach & Advocacy, Teacher Education, Curriculum Development & Community Engagement.

About Us
Muktangan is an innovative, inclusive, child- friendly educational project demonstrating how ordinary women and men, empowered with the right beliefs and skills, can drive extraordinary outcomes for children from their own aspiring communities. Over our 20 year-long journey, we have evolved into a Hub and Spokes model of Integrated Teacher and School Education with our teacher education centre as the Hub and 7 Muktangan run-municipal schools in Mumbai as spokes where we offer free, high-quality and inclusive English medium education from preschool to Grade 10 over 4000 children from underserved communities and developed over 1000 community members (majorly women) as teachers. We have partnered with UNICEF, BMC (Municipal), Maharashtra State Government and many NGOs to adapt the Muktangan model. Our Program is acknowledged by academic institutions and educationists locally such as Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), and internationally such as University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) in the U.S.A and BathSpa, Oxford & Cambridge Universities in the UK. Through our outreach initiatives and partnerships with the local and state government, NGOs, academic institutions both local and international, we have reached out to more than 75,000 children and more than 5,000 teachers and teacher educators across India. Key Responsibilities:
A. Outreach and Advocacy:
Involves reaching out to potential implementing partners and building their capacity to design classroom - based systems that deliver a high-quality engagement along with optimized learning outcomes for every student. In this role the early childhood educator would be required to:
· Do detailed need assessments
· Collaboratively design early years learning curriculums and relevant TLMs
· Facilitate early childhood education training modules in physical or virtual formats
· Conduct preschool classroom observations and provide documented feedback on the M&E metrics
· Collaboration with various Government, Non-government and academic institutions for contextualizing our ECCE curriculum and processes.
B. Teacher Education:
Involves continuous capacity building of “community teachers and Preschool faculty” developed in the Muktangan constructivist methodology.
C. Organizational:
Involves continuously researching emerging trends in the sector and attempting to enhance the network with institutions that are aligned to the Muktangan vision to promote an engaged & inclusive classroom experience.
Required Competencies:
§ Passionate about researching & designing early years learning routines that can engage teachers & children and believes in children through play and active constructivism pedagogy.
§ Working knowledge of Marathi/Hindi or both will be given preference
§ Outstanding communications and inter-personal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
§ Proven ability to develop preschool content (including use of technology) that is relevant to the learner
§ Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external teams as well as lead projects
§ Must be flexible working with a professional, demanding work schedule and environment
§ Open to travel to the assigned project location.
Educational Qualification & Years of Experience:
Masters in Education in Early Childhood Education/Human Development/Development Studies
· Minimum 2 years’ experience as an early childhood practitioner
Remuneration:
Salary shall be at par with industry standards.
