Role Title:

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Lead Engineer in a technical leadership role for building sophisticated Loyalty APIs to power our multi-billion-dollar enterprise. We are seeking an outstanding engineering talent with the experience to lead the design, solutioning and delivery of large-scale enterprise applications. The candidate should be product focused and deeply passionate about solving complex problems.

Candidate must have the ability to communicate upward to superiors and laterally to other departments, keeping the organization at large in sync and making sure that their team

continues to deliver results. Demonstrated the ability to monitor multiple projects to successful completion, maintaining scope within the time and budget constraints. Capable of creating solutions that serve the business needs by leveraging leading edge technologies in an innovative and impactful manner.


Job Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

  • Own High-level & Low-level design for assigned modules/services.
  • Drive engineering best practices, coding standards, and performance benchmarks.
  • Review and approve low level technical designs and complex code submissions.
  • Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, tools, and propose adoption strategies.


Solution Delivery:

  • Break down product requirements into detailed technical tasks and stories.
  • Facilitates discussions and removes technical blockers
  • Lead end-to-end technical deliverables—from design, development, testing, deployment to monitoring.
  • Ensure solutions meet scalability, security, performance, and reliability standards.
  • Identify and manage technical risks and trade-offs.


Collaboration & Cross-Functional:

  • Partner with Product Managers, QA, Cloud/DevOps, Security, and UX teams.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, technical grooming, and release discussions.
  • Translate complex technical constraints into business language for stakeholders.


Mentoring & Team Enablement:

  • Mentor Software Engineers and Senior Engineers on architecture, coding, and debugging.
  • Conduct regular knowledge-sharing sessions and technical upskilling workshops.
  • Provide technical feedback, coach on best practices, and help others grow.


Production Ownership:

  • Troubleshoot high-severity production issues and lead root cause analysis.
  • Ensure robust observability (logs, metrics, traces) and implement monitoring dashboards.
  • Drive reliability improvements and manage technical debt reduction.


IT Governance:

  • Follows all defined IR standards and processes (i.e. IT Governance, SM&G,
  • Architecture, etc.), and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process
  • owners as needed
  • Maintains a proper balance between business and operational risk
  • Follows the defined project management standards and processes


Service Provider Management:

  • Validates that Service Providers develop and manage respective aspects of a project plan, including schedules, deliverables, and appropriate metrics.
  • Makes short term plans for the team to effectively utilize resources.
  • Monitors Service Provider outcomes.
  • Reviews estimates of work effort for client project provided by Service Providers for Accuracy.
  • Facilitates timely resolution of service delivery problems and minimizes the impact to Clients.


Skill and Experience:

  • 7–12 years of engineering experience with strong hands-on coding in Java/Node.js/Python/.NET (as applicable).
  • Strong knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, REST/gRPC, event-driven patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS / Azure / GCP.
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevOps concepts.
  • Expertise in performance engineering, debugging, log analysis, and observability tools.
  • Experience with designing secure applications (OAuth2, encryption, IAM).


Leadership & Delivery Skills:

  • Ability to lead technical decision-making and influence without authority.
  • Strong problem-solving and system thinking capabilities.
  • Proven experience leading medium-to-large projects.
  • Ability to mentor and guide other engineers.


Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication—translates technical complexity into simple language.
  • High ownership, accountability, and proactive mindset.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.


Education and Certifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certification.
