Lead Engineer - Body Structure (BIW)

As a Lead Engineer - Body Structure (BIW) at Magna, you will be at the forefront of leading and managing body-in-white engineering efforts across vehicle programs. Your primary role will involve overseeing the entire BIW development process, from concept to production, ensuring design excellence, manufacturability, cost targets, and regulatory compliance. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities including driving product lifecycle activities, technical governance, effort estimation, customer management, delivery management, mentorship, team leadership, materials and manufacturing optimization, cost and weight management, and cross-functional leadership. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and manage body-in-white engineering efforts across vehicle programs - Oversee the entire BIW development process from concept to production - Ensure design excellence, manufacturability, cost targets, and regulatory compliance - Drive product lifecycle activities and technical governance - Manage effort estimation, customer relationships, and delivery management - Provide mentorship, team leadership, and materials/manufacturing optimization - Manage cost and weight targets and exhibit cross-functional leadership Qualifications Required: - Hold a BE/DME in a relevant Engineering stream - Minimum of 10+ years of work experience for BE or 13+ years for DME or equivalent - Expertise in CAD and CAE, GD&T, material science, resource allocation, and manufacturing processes - Strong skills in integration and innovation strategy - Behavioral skill sets including quality excellence, strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship management - Demonstrate innovation, entrepreneurial thinking, business acumen, and market knowledge The role requires proficiency in languages including English and Hindi, with proficiency in Marathi (local language) preferred. Knowledge of a foreign language is considered an added advantage.
