Job Description

Role Overview: As a Lead Engineer - Body Structure (BIW) at Magna, you will be responsible for leading and managing body-in-white engineering efforts across vehicle programs. Your role will involve ensuring design excellence, manufacturability, cost targets, and regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the product lifecycle by driving BIW development from concept to production, including feasibility, CAD, CAE, prototyping, validation, and production launch. - Prepare and oversee gateway documents, DFMEA, DVP/R, technical specs, BOM, and risk assessments for technical governance. - Estimate efforts required for task completion and interact with customers on operational aspects of the project. - Ensure the quality of design meets customer requirements, plan project deliverables, monitor progress, and manage scope, schedule, effort, and quality for successful delivery. - Coach and mentor junior and mid-level engineers, foster best practices, continuous learning, and technical excellence across the team. - Assess and select materials, optimize for weight, producibility, and cost, and deepen expertise in stamping, welding, bonding, and robotic automation for materials and manufacturing optimization. - Maintain weight targets and cost-per-piece budgets, own cost engineering, and cost estimation during concept and release phases for cost and weight management. - Coordinate with cross-functional teams including design, CAE, manufacturing, validation, supply chain, and suppliers to ensure right-first-time quality and successful integration of new technologies. Qualification Required: - Educational Qualification: BE/DME in relevant Engineering stream - Work Experience: 10+ years if BE, 13+ years if DME or equivalent - Technical Skill Sets: CAD and CAE Mastery, GD&T Expertise, Material Science, Resource Allocation, Manufacturing Processes, Integration, Innovation Strategy - Behavioral Skill Sets: Quality Excellence, Strong Presentation Skills, Communication Skills, Problem Solving, Customer/Supplier Relationship Management, Innovation, Entrepreneur Thinking, Business Acumen, Market Knowledge - Proficiency In Languages: English - Proficient, Hindi - Proficient, Marathi (local language) preferred to be capable, Foreign Language - Added advantage Additional Details: At Magna, you will be part of a global team committed to developing industry-leading automotive technologies.
