The General Manager - Legal is responsible for providing inhouse legal advice and support on various legal issues and compliances to different verticals across the Company, its subsidiaries, and their clients, with a primary focus on the senior living/real estate industry. The role involves independently managing legal and compliance affairs, including real estate collaborations, joint development contracts, intellectual property rights (IPRs), litigation, and contracting, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to legal standards. 1. Transaction Advisory o Provide legal support during M&A, corporate restructuring, and real estate collaboration transactions. o Conduct legal due diligence, draft, negotiate, structure, and finalize transaction documents. 2. Intellectual Property Rights Management o Act as the central point for IPR management for the Company and its subsidiaries. o Handle trademark registration applications, notices of opposition, counter-statements, cease-and-desist notices, affidavits, and evidences related to trademarks. o Maintain a comprehensive MIS for all matters concerning IPRs. 3. Legal and Compliance Advisory o Provide proactive support to various departments on legal and compliance issues, including but not limited to: RERA and other real estate laws FEMA& Arbitration Transfer of Property Act &Marketing laws Consumer Protection laws Legal Corporate laws, Metrology laws 4. Contract Drafting and Negotiation: 1. Draft, vet, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, such as: MOUs Engagement Letters Agreements to Sell &Sale Deeds Lease Deeds & Collaboration Agreements Joint Development Agreements Development & Maintenance Agreements Power of Attorney & Commercial Agreements Construction, loan & Non-Disclosure Agreements Share Purchase/Shareholders Agreements 2. Liaising and Litigation Management 3. Compliance Monitoring and Audits o Oversee and ensure adherence to various compliance requirements, including but not limited to: Corporate laws Project compliances Labour laws Environment laws Healthcare laws Minimum Qualification • Bachelors degree in law (LLB) from a reputed law school/university • Master’s degree in law (LLM) is preferred but not mandatory. Experience 12-15 years of relevant experience in legal roles within industries such as real estate development, property management, construction, senior care, and/or hospitality. Functional Skill Strong command of English with excellent drafting skills. Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislations and regulations.
