Title: Senior Backend Engineer Position Description Create world-class APIs for web, mobile, and external teams supporting over a million members. Work collaboratively with product designers, product managers and quality engineers to deliver innovative new solutions and applications for a market leader in the mobility space. Develop and release scalable, high performance applications. Strive for continuous improvement of the Zipcar member experience. Coach and mentor other engineers and provide technical leadership. Contribute to review and scope product requirements with Product Managers and UX designers. Collaborate with full stack and backend engineers in developing cross-functional products through feature development and integrations with other microservice components. Provide technical feedback to QA engineers for test cases creation and participate in test driven development. Required Experience/Skills Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a directly related field plus five years of experience in a Developer position working in an ecommerce environment. 5-8 years of Professional experience designing/writing/supporting highly available web services. 5+ years of experience writing Java applications. Experience with event driven architecture (1+ years) Must have experience analyzing complex data flows - batch or real time processing (3+ years) Worked on RabbitMQ or similar (3+ years) Experience with Postgres or similar ( 3+ years) Experience with NoSQL DBs - MongoDB and Cassandra/Datastax (1+ years) Strong experience with AWS and CI/CD environment. (3+ years) Experience writing and consuming webservices using Java/Springboot. Experience developing React/NodeJs Apps and Services is a plus. Understanding of distributed systems - performance bottlenecks, fault tolerance, and data consistency concerns. Experience in Kubernetes for containerized application management. Experience building mission critical systems, running 24x7. Desire to work within a team of engineers at all levels of experience. Familiarity with tools like DataDog, Grafana, or similar products to monitor web services. Good written and spoken communication skills. Show more Show less
