IT Hardware and Repair Technician

Job Summary:

The IT Hardware and Repair Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and physical repair of IT hardware equipment across the organization. This role ensures timely diagnostics and repair of desktops, laptops, printers, monitors, and other peripheral devices, supporting business continuity and minimizing equipment downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install (Linux Windows and MacOS), configure, and maintain IT hardware, including desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, and mobile devices.
• Diagnose and repair faulty or malfunctioning hardware components such as motherboards, hard drives, RAM, power supplies, and screens.
• Replace damaged or outdated hardware parts and perform component-level repairs when required.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and regular health checks on IT equipment.
• Maintain detailed records of hardware repairs, replacements, warranties, and asset movements.
• Perform data backup and recovery during hardware servicing, ensuring data integrity and privacy.
• Assist with IT equipment setup for new employees.
• Manage hardware inventory, including procurement requests, tagging, and disposal of end-of-life equipment.
• Ensure all hardware repairs follow organizational and safety standards.
• Liaise with external vendors for hardware support and warranty claims when needed.
• Support the IT helpdesk team in resolving hardware-related support tickets.

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience in IT hardware installation, diagnostics, and component-level repair.
• Strong knowledge of computer architecture and peripherals (PCs, laptops, printers, etc.).
• Understanding of BIOS/UEFI settings, disk imaging, and basic software troubleshooting as it relates to hardware functionality.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently.
