Our Organization
The Merchandising Allocations organization is responsible for the solutions that enable the many TJX divisions to ensure the right stores receive the right merchandise at the right time. These solutions contain the proprietary logic that drives the TJX “treasure hunt”. The Allocations team oversees a large and complex legacy solution landscape undergoing a major modernization effort. The modernization scope includes ~70 legacy applications reimagined into 10 products, collectively called the Global Store Allocation System (GSAS), that will reside in the Microsoft Azure cloud.

Engineering Manager
supporting Merchandising-Allocations, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering globally distributed, high-uptime applications in cloud that are critical to our modernization journey.You will be responsible for technical execution, team development, and strategic alignment with business and technology goals. This role requires strong leadership, deep technical understanding and a passion for operational excellence.You will be passionate about nurturing talent and fostering a strong engineering mindset to support our accelerated modernization efforts. As a champion of agile practices, you will collaborate closely with Product Management and Business teams to identify opportunities and solve problems that positively impact our business.Additionally, you will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and resolving technical debt within your teams to ensure application health is maintained. This will enable the Allocations team to consistently deliver high-quality technical solutions that support its overall objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers responsible for Store Allocations solutions development & deployment.
- Ensure adherence to engineering best practices, including secure coding, CI/CD, and DevSecOps principles.
- Partner with Allocations leadership team to maintain the overall Allocations Modernization roadmap, workforce plan and operating model
- Drive continuous improvement in development & deployment processes, tools, and team performance.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Product, Cloud Provider, and Security to ensure successful rollouts.
- Lead strategic initiatives to improve development velocity, reliability, and scalability.
- Identify, prioritize, and resolve technical debt to ensure the quality of deliverables and the performance of the system.
- Ensure process discipline and documentation standards are upheld across engineering and deployment activities. Example: NFRs
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications
- Over 12 years of experience in IT with extensive exposure to full-stack product development, preferably using Microsoft technologies, along with more than 2 years of direct people management experience.
- Strong understanding and proven experience in building and supporting scalable, high-performing cloud-based software products, preferably on Microsoft Azure.
- Experience managing a global function in a complex, multi-national corporate setting with geographically dispersed teams.
- Proven experience in technology roadmap planning, strategic alignment, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong knowledge of the solution delivery lifecycle and agile methodologies (SAFe).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across global teams.
- Proven success in achieving business objectives and a demonstrated ability to hold individuals accountable for delivering results.
- Proven ability to lead high-performing engineering teams with a strong advocacy for DevSecOps principles and adherence to engineering best practices.
- Comfortable providing timely and constructive performance feedback to team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Azure certifications are a strong advantage.
- Prior experience in the retail domain is beneficial but not mandatory.
