Job Description

Main purpose of job:

We are looking for a dynamic, high-calibre colleague to join an experienced team that leads on the India- UK inward investment relationship. The UK is a preferred inward investment destination for Indian companies- we need a colleague who will help us retain this position and play a role in the development of our future strategy.

Your role will be to individually contribute and support Inward Investment initiatives including:

  • Promoting the UK as the ideal destination for inward investment to Indian companies in Mumbai.
  • Coordinating key account management of important Indian businesses working closely with team members.
  • Working with colleagues to support pipeline building activity in Gujarat, wider Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Goa.
  • Maintain relationships with Industry Associations / commercial partners . This includes conducting and participating in events to promote Inward Investment into the UK.
  • Ongoing client relationship/database management and performance reporting via DBT’s internal platforms (Data Hub/ Data Workspace).

You will be expected to develop and support the delivery of a strong pipeline of current and future investment projects and contribute to the wider DBT / UK in India efforts across a range of corporate objectives. You will be supported with opportunities to get the right learning and development, career development and opportunities to travel.

To be accountable and responsible for personal and team finances through the year. No line management is required for the role.

Learning and development opportunities:

The British High Commission Network in India provides ample L&D opportunities to its staff to grow in their professional journey. The 70/20/10 learning, and development model is applied, with both internal and formal opportunities readily available.

In addition, DBT provides opportunity for Inward Investment related training to build understanding of FDI/ the UK market.

Qualifications:

Graduate/Post Graduate in Business Management or equivalent.

Experience:

Skills:

  • Relationship management - ability to read situations and modify behaviour to build quality, diverse relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Strong skills in using Microsoft Office tools.

Language Requirements:

  • Proficient in English Language both Spoken and Written.

Desirable:

  • An understanding of the role of governments and private sector in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
  • Knowledge of factors that influence trade, investments, expansion decisions, and value proposition for investors.
  • Experience in using business and web-based tools (CRM Databases, Financial and FDI databases) for FDI promotion, tracking and data management.
  • Experience of budget monitoring.
