A Senior Interior Designer/Architect plays a key role in the design and execution of interior spaces, leading projects from initial concept to final installation. Their responsibilities extend beyond just creating aesthetically pleasing environments—they are involved in managing teams, liaising with clients, and ensuring that design projects are executed within budget and on time. Below are the Outline of Job Profile. Project Leadership: Lead and manage multiple design projects simultaneously, from concept through to completion. Oversee junior designers and support staff, providing mentorship and guidance. Ensure that all projects adhere to client specifications, industry standards, and budget constraints. Client Interaction: Work closely with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and functional requirements. Present design concepts, mood boards, and layouts to clients for approval and feedback. Maintain strong client relationships and provide ongoing support throughout the project. Design Development: Develop interior design concepts and solutions that align with the client's brand, vision, and functional needs. Create detailed design drawings, mood boards, and material palettes. Select appropriate furniture, lighting, color schemes, and finishes that align with the overall aesthetic and function. Space Planning & Layout: Design floor plans that optimize space, function, and flow while meeting safety and accessibility codes. Work with architects, contractors, and engineers to ensure that the space planning aligns with structural and building regulations. Budget Management: Manage the design project budget, ensuring that the project remains within the financial limits. Source materials, furniture, and décor while considering cost-efficiency without compromising quality or as per company Standards. Collaboration with Contractors and Vendors: Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers for the procurement of materials and furniture. Supervise the construction process and ensure that designs are being executed according to specifications. Conduct site visits to ensure that the work is progressing as per the design. Technical Drawing & Documentation: Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and installation instructions for construction and installation teams. Review and approve the work of junior designers and ensure that all design documentation is accurate and up to date. Sustainability & Innovation: Incorporate sustainable practices into designs by recommending eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient lighting, and waste reduction strategies. Stay updated on the latest interior design trends, technologies, and innovations to create modern, forward-thinking spaces. Quality Control: Conduct quality control inspections to ensure the final result meets both client expectations and professional standards. Address any design issues or discrepancies during the implementation phase. Skills and Qualifications: Education: Typically requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design or a related field. Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in interior design, with a significant portion of that in a senior or leadership role. Technical Skills: Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and other relevant tools. Creative and Conceptual Thinking: Strong ability to conceptualize design ideas and present them visually through mood boards, sketches, and technical drawings. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and explain design concepts clearly to clients, contractors, and stakeholders. Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate a team of designers and other professionals, and manage client relationships effectively. Time Management: Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
