Job Summary

The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, installing, and maintaining instrumentation and control systems used in dairy processing facilities. This includes ensuring the accuracy and reliability of instruments used for measuring, monitoring, and controlling production parameters to maintain product quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instrumentation Design and Maintenance:
    • Design and select instrumentation for dairy processing plants, including temperature, pressure, flow, and pH sensors.
    • Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot process control instruments.
    • Ensure all instruments meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Process Automation:
    • Develop and implement automated control systems to optimize production processes.
    • Program and maintain PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, and HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces).
  • Compliance and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of instrument calibration, maintenance schedules, and modifications.
    • Ensure compliance with food safety standards (e.g., FSSAI, HACCP) and industry-specific regulations.
  • Monitoring and Optimization:
    • Analyze process data to ensure instruments are functioning correctly and processes are efficient.
    • Identify and address areas for improvement to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless operations.
    • Train plant staff on the correct use and maintenance of instrumentation systems.
  • Safety:
    • Adhere to safety protocols while working with instruments and control systems.
    • Ensure that all instruments are installed and maintained in a manner that does not compromise operator safety or product integrity.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 3–5 years of experience in instrumentation and automation, preferably in the dairy or food processing industry.
    • Hands-on experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial automation equipment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.).
    • Knowledge of dairy plant operations, including pasteurizers, homogenizers, evaporators, and CIP systems.
    • Familiarity with control systems, data loggers, and analytical instruments.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to challenges.
