Industrial Designer
with expertise in working with natural stones to create bespoke mosaic murals, intricate patterns, and stunning decorative elements for luxury interiors and commercial spaces. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of design principles, material properties, and fabrication techniques related to natural stones, as well as a deep appreciation for the aesthetics of stone artistry.As an Industrial Designer specializing in stone mosaics, you will collaborate with architects, interior designers, and craftsmen to bring creative visions to life through the unique medium of stone. From initial design concept to final production, you will play an integral role in delivering high-quality, one-of-a-kind stone installations that captivate and inspire.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop innovative and detailed designs for mosaics, murals, and decorative patterns using natural stones like marble, granite, onyx, and gemstones. Create design concepts that reflect both client needs and artistic expression.
- Material Selection & Sourcing:
Source and select appropriate stones based on aesthetic appeal, durability, and suitability for specific projects. Maintain a deep knowledge of various types of natural stones, their properties, and their handling requirements.
- Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with project managers, architects, interior designers, and artisans to ensure the design is feasible, cost-effective, and meets quality standards. Communicate design intent clearly, offering solutions when challenges arise.
Create mockups or prototypes using CAD software and physical samples to demonstrate design viability. Ensure the designs are well-suited for both the production process and the final installation.
- Manufacturing & Production Oversight:
Oversee the stone cutting, polishing, and assembly process to ensure precision and consistency. Liaise with artisans and manufacturers to guarantee that the final product meets the design vision and quality expectations.
- Customization & Client Interaction:
Work directly with clients to refine and customize designs based on their needs, preferences, and space requirements. Present ideas and adjustments, and provide professional guidance on material choices, layout, and installation.
Conduct rigorous quality checks throughout the design, production, and installation phases to ensure that the final mosaic or pattern meets high aesthetic standards and functional durability.
- Trend Analysis & Innovation:
Stay current on trends in interior design, art, and architecture, integrating new techniques, materials, and design trends into your work to keep our offerings fresh and relevant.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Proven experience in working with natural stones such as marble, granite, onyx, and gemstones, ideally within the context of creating mosaics or murals.
- Strong proficiency in 3D modeling and CAD software, Photoshop (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, SolidWorks, SketchUp, etc.).
- Experience in stone fabrication techniques such as cutting, polishing, and assembling mosaics.
- Exceptional aesthetic sensibility with an eye for intricate patterns, textures, and color combinations.
- Knowledge of material properties including weight, porosity, and maintenance requirements of different natural stones.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to adapt designs based on project constraints and client feedback.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including designers, artisans, and clients.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting ideas, providing updates, and incorporating feedback effectively.
- Attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to producing high-quality, durable designs.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Portfolio showcasing relevant experience in stone design, mosaics, or similar projects (preferably with a focus on natural materials).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with sustainable design practices, including sourcing eco-friendly materials and reducing waste in the production process.
- Knowledge of historic and contemporary mosaic techniques and their application in design.
- Familiarity with digital fabrication tools such as CNC machines or laser cutters for stone processing.
- Experience working on high-end luxury projects in the hospitality, residential, or commercial sectors.
