About The Team
The Merch Ops Analytics team supports the Assortment Planning function at Lowe’s to assist in item level planning across all Lowe’s stores. The team provides leverages advanced analytics to gather insights and share recommendations to the business in optimizing assortments via SKU Rationalization, Product Line Reviews and other strategic initiatives to ensure that Lowe’s stocks the right product in the right store in the right quantity
Job Summary
The principal purpose of the Sr. Analyst is to be the Analytics partner with the Merchandising organization and deliver the insights and recommendations to drive a deeper understanding of product categories. This information will be utilized by Merchandising teams as they work to create an optimal strategy for their product category, which in turn will influence different merchandising strategies across all our fulfillment channels.To accomplish this, the Sr. Analyst must have solid knowledge of retail and/or business analytics. This position is responsible for following analytical best practices, accurately reporting and analyzing results and identifying insights for decision making; determine additional research/analytics that may be needed to enhance the solution; and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project continuity and strategic alignment
Roles & Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Solves problems and shares information to enable alignment across the organization in order to facilitate better decision making by collaborating with a team of peers, providing support to functional areas for product line reviews, business reviews & strategic initiatives
- Enables business partners to make informed decisions based on root cause drivers of performance by working with functional partners to develop and maintain scorecards, analyzing and providing insights and performance analysis
- Communicates financial and non-financial analysis and insights to leaders by preparing analyses through leveraging multiple data sources; identifying complete, consistent, and actionable insights & recommendations; translating insights into clear, understandable themes
- Demonstrate resourcefulness and resilience in the face of change, obstacles, and adversity. This includes adapting to competing demands and shifting priorities. This also includes improving adaptability, pursuing new skills and knowledge, and regularly seeking feedback from others
Years Of Experience
- 4+ years’ experience in Data Analytics
Education Qualification & Certifications (optional)
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics or any other Quantitative discipline
Skill Set Required
Primary Skills (must have)
- Wrangling data using complex SQLs and data extraction processes using data tools like SQL Assistant, DBeaver etc across databases in Teradata, Hadoop
- Experience working with Big data & performing data transformations using Python (preferred), SAS, R etc
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and experience in creating reports & dashboards
- Advanced proficiency in business intelligence and reporting tools such as PowerBI (preferred), MicroStrategy, Tableau etc
- Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally and with global partners
- Capable of end-to-end project execution & engaging with stakeholders at each stage
- Good understanding of retail math & statistics
Secondary Skills (desired)
- 1+ year experience in Retail category analytics working directly with merchants
- Ability to build analytical solutions using modelling and advanced statistical techniques for solving business problems related to Merchandising
