Standardized Job Title: IBDP English & TOK Teacher
Role & Responsibilities
- Create and execute rigorous English A: Language & Literature schemes of work aligned to IBDP course outlines and school scope-and-sequence.
- Facilitate Theory of Knowledge (TOK) seminars that promote critical thinking, real-world connections, and reflection.
- Design differentiated lessons and formative assessments that meet diverse learner profiles and MYP articulation.
- Guide students through Internal Assessments, Extended Essays, and TOK exhibitions, ensuring academic integrity and timely feedback.
- Track attainment data, moderate grades, and implement targeted interventions to maximize IBDP scores.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on interdisciplinary projects, CAS events, and whole-school literacy initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- Bachelor’s degree in English or related field plus B.Ed or equivalent teaching credential.
- Minimum 2 years recent experience teaching IBDP English A or Language & Literature.
- Formal training or certification in TOK facilitation.
- Documented record of students achieving grade 5+ in final exams.
- Expertise in differentiation, assessment for learning, and digital classroom platforms (Google Classroom, ManageBac).
- Excellent written and verbal English communication and pastoral skills.
Preferred
- IB Educator Network (IBEN) workshop leader or examiner status.
- Experience mentoring Extended Essay supervisors or coordinating CAS.
- Familiarity with MYP or IGCSE progression pathways.
