Job Description

Job Title: HR Recruiter/HR Officer

Position Summary

The HR Recruiter will be responsible for managing end-to-end recruitment activities for the steel plant, ensuring the timely hiring of qualified and skilled manpower across technical, operational, and administrative functions. This role requires a deep understanding of industrial/plant staffing needs, strong sourcing capabilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Talent Acquisition & Recruitment

  • Handle full-cycle recruitment for technical, operational, maintenance, safety, quality, logistics, and support functions.
  • Source candidates through job portals, campus drives, employee referrals, social media, and recruitment agencies.
  • Screen resumes, conduct telephonic interviews, and shortlist candidates based on job requirements.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews with department heads and hiring managers.
  • Maintain a strong candidate pipeline for critical and high-turnover positions.

2. Workforce Planning

  • Collaborate with departmental heads to understand manpower requirements.
  • Support HR Manager in preparing annual and monthly recruitment plans.
  • Track vacancies, attrition, and hiring lead times.

3. Onboarding & Documentation

  • Conduct reference checks and background verification.
  • Issue offer letters, appointment letters, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Assist in onboarding and induction of new employees at the plant.

4. Employer Branding

  • Participate in job fairs, campus recruitment drives, apprenticeship hiring, and local community outreach programs.
  • Promote the steel plant as a preferred employer in the region.

5. Recruitment Data & Reporting

  • Maintain MIS reports related to recruitment status, hiring metrics, and dashboards.
  • Ensure timely reporting to plant HR management.

Skills & Competencies Required

  • Strong experience in technical/industrial recruitment (preferably in steel, metal, or heavy manufacturing).
  • Knowledge of plant-level roles, skill requirements, and trade hiring.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, HR systems, and ATS tools.
  • Strong networking and negotiation skills.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (MBA/PGDM in HR preferred).
  • 25 years of recruitment experience; manufacturing/steel industry experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with labor laws and compliance will be an added advantage.
