Role & responsibilities Responsible for driving and managing the ad-hoc mechanical maintenance of the Ferro Alloy Unit (FAU) production unit, including but not limited to planning, scheduling, executing, and documenting all maintenance activities aimed at ensuring maximum health and efficiency of the production and ancillary units. Also responsible for managing continuous improvement and cost control/ reduction programs for all mechanical maintenance activities. Plant Maintenance Manage and execute all activities pertaining to the mechanical maintenance of all machinery and equipment within the FAU plant, including but not limited to work order receipt, approval and closure validation, shift schedule creation and manpower utilization tracking, maintenance equipment & material procurement and storage, and appropriate documentation and reporting. Work closely with the Operations Excellence team and validate the execution of all shift maintenance activities as well as adherence to regulatory safety compliances & departmental SOPs. Contribute to the data analysis of shift maintenance activities performed by the Operations Excellence team and help identify scope for process and/or methodology improvement, cost reduction and cost control. Conduct daily line walks and other inspection visits across the FAU furnaces and ancillary units to identify avenues for mechanical maintenance and accordingly assign manpower for the completion of the same. Receive work orders for mechanical maintenance and appropriately deploy workforce, validate their activities, and approve work order closure. Maintain proper documentation of all maintenance activities & scheduling for reporting purposes. Receive and collate all documentation pertaining to the performance and delivery of the daily mechanical maintenance activities and review the same prior to the daily review meetings (DRMs) to validate adherence to maintenance schedules, identify deviances, assess root causes of the same, and develop corrective action plans to eliminate/resolve them. Ensure all maintenance activities are fulfilled in minimal time to least affect the production process. General Administration Support the GM Mechanical in representing the Mechanical maintenance subdepartment in the Daily Review Meetings (DRMs), CRM, TOC, MAT, and SCM events and present the relevant performance and utilization reports for trends analysis, identification of areas of improvement and respond to all inquiries with appropriate documentation. Lead a team of technicians, and operators to fulfill all mechanical maintenance activities for all FAU furnaces, ancillary units, machinery, and equipment, covering the work order receipt, approval, manpower deployment, and closure validation, shift schedule creation and manpower utilization tracking, maintenance equipment & material procurement and storage, and appropriate documentation and reporting of all activities performed. Work closely with the Operations Excellence team and validate the execution of all shift maintenance activities as well as adherence to regulatory safety compliances & departmental SOPs. Document all maintenance activities related performance indicators and collate the same for subsequent data analysis by the Operations Excellence (OpEx) team. Support the OpEx team with data driven identification of scope for process and/or methodology improvement, cost reduction and cost control. Submit all reports and findings to Manager Mechanical (Shift Maintenance) for further analysis. Allocate workmen for the execution of maintenance schedules and ensure all maintenance activities, are fulfilled effectively in minimal time so as to least affect the production process. Receive work orders for Mechanical maintenance and prepare appropriate documentation, deploy workforce, validate their activities, and approve work order closure and document the same. Preferred candidate profile Desired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering or related field. Desired Experience 5+ years of experience in steel plant mechanical maintenance role, preferably in Ferro Alloy manufacturing plant. 1+ years in a leadership role. Functional Skills Excellent knowledge and experience of driving maintenance programs as well as addressing unscheduled maintenance requests. Strong experience of key manufacturing principles, various maintenance types and associated activities and audits. Proven track record of driving process improvement and conducting Root Cause Analysis Expertise with MS Office suite, especially with Excel. Good understanding of steel manufacturing process, associated machinery & equipment, and key maintenance issues a plus Behavioural Competencies Strong leadership and motivation skills Strong Work management skills Keen eye for detail Stakeholder Management Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other departments.
