Job Description

Role & responsibilities

1. Supervision & Staff Management

  • Supervise daily housekeeping operations across production, warehouse, R&D, QC, and administrative areas.
  • Allocate duties and monitor housekeeping staff to ensure coverage across all plant zones.
  • Train and guide housekeeping personnel in proper cleaning techniques and GMP compliance.
  • Conduct daily briefings and assign shifts as per operational requirements.

2. GMP & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure all cleaning activities comply with

    GMP

    FDA

    ,

    MHRA

    , and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain proper documentation of cleaning schedules, checklists, and cleaning logs.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure cleaning validation is performed where applicable.
  • Report deviations or non-compliance related to cleanliness and hygiene to QA or plant manager.

3. Plant Hygiene & Sanitation

  • Oversee cleaning of cleanrooms, production areas, corridors, gowning rooms, and other classified zones.
  • Ensure use of approved cleaning agents and methods suitable for pharmaceutical environments.
  • Monitor disposal of waste (biohazardous, chemical, general) as per SOPs and safety protocols.
  • Verify pest control activities are performed as per schedule.

4. Inventory & Supplies Management

  • Monitor usage and stock of cleaning materials, PPE, and consumables.
  • Ensure only approved disinfectants and cleaning materials are used as per SOP.
  • Coordinate with procurement for replenishment of supplies.

5. Audits & Inspections

  • Ensure readiness of all areas for internal/external audits (e.g., FDA, WHO, ISO).
  • Participate in plant hygiene audits; address gaps and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain cleaning records for audit trail purposes.

6. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure all housekeeping staff follow safety protocols, wear PPE, and are aware of MSDS for cleaning agents.
  • Promote safe practices for handling chemical disinfectants and waste disposal.
  • Conduct periodic safety drills or refresher training.

7. Communication & Coordination

  • Coordinate with Production, QA, Maintenance, and EHS teams to avoid disruptions.
  • Escalate facility issues (leaks, spills, equipment failures) promptly.
  • Prepare regular reports on housekeeping activities and submit to management.

Optional: Technical Areas

(Depending on plant scale and setup)

  • Supervise cleaning and fumigation in HVAC ducts, ceilings, and high-risk zones.
  • Assist in implementing 5S and lean housekeeping practices.
  • Monitor environmental control areas and temperature-sensitive cleaning needs.
