Job Description

This role is a mix of strategy and execution and will suit someone with extensive domain expertise who wants to explore how they can broaden their impact.

Job responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor the companys health & safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with Spanish legislation (e.g., Ley de Prevencin de Riesgos Laborales 31/1995) and EU regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and workplace inspections to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement preventive measures.
Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies such as INSST (Instituto Nacional de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo) and local labor authorities.
Keep up to date with changes in HSE legislation and best practices to ensure company compliance.

Job qualifications

Technical Skills

Design and deliver health & safety training programs for employees at all levels, including emergency response, first aid, ergonomics, and safe work practices.
Promote a strong safety culture within the company by driving awareness campaigns and safety committees.
Lead and manage safety drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
Incident Management & Reporting.
Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Maintain and analyze incident reports and trends to drive continuous safety improvements. Ensure the proper reporting of occupational illnesses and accidents to regulatory authorities.
Act as the main point of contact for all health & safety-related matters within the organization.
Work closely with various functions to integrate HSE practices into daily business operations. Manage external audits, inspections, and interactions with health & safety service providers (e.g., occupational health services, external risk prevention agencies).
Develop and oversee emergency response plans and coordinate crisis management procedures.
Ensure proper fire safety measures, evacuation plans, and emergency response team training.

Professional Skills

University degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) and a Masters degree in Occupational Risk Prevention.
Certifications in Health & Safety (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor) are highly desirable.
Specialisation in Occupational Safety & Ergonomics and Psychosocial Risks required.
Minimum 3-4 years of experience in a Health & Safety role, preferably in a large or globally distributed organization.
Strong knowledge of Spanish and EU health & safety regulations.
Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and investigations.
Excellent communication with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
Fluency in Spanish and English (written & spoken) is required.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
