Summary:

  • The Headmistress plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic, administrative, and cultural fabric of a primary or secondary educational institution
  • As the chief executive officer of the school, the Headmistress is responsible for driving educational excellence, fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, and ensuring compliance with national and regional education standards
  • This leadership role demands strategic vision, emotional intelligence, and a deep commitment to student development and staff growth
  • The Headmistress oversees curriculum implementation, staff performance, student welfare, parent engagement, and institutional reputation, serving as a key liaison between the school, parents, government bodies, and the wider community
  • The successful candidate will be a transformative leader who inspires innovation, promotes equity in education, and upholds the highest standards of professionalism and integrity

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of school operations, including academic planning, resource allocation, and policy implementation.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance student achievement, teacher performance, and institutional growth.
  • Supervise and mentor teaching and non/-teaching staff, conducting performance evaluations and providing professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to curriculum standards, assessment protocols, and regulatory requirements set by the education board.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe school culture that promotes respect, diversity, and student well/-being.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, guardians, and community stakeholders; maintain transparent and proactive communication.
  • Oversee student discipline, counselling services, and extracurricular programs to support holistic development.
  • Manage school budgets, financial planning, and procurement processes in alignment with institutional goals.
  • Represent the school at local, regional, and national education forums, events, and accreditation processes.
  • Promote innovation in teaching methodologies and integrate technology into classroom instruction where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Education, Administration, or a related field; Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in educational leadership, including roles such as Deputy Head, Academic Coordinator, or Senior Teacher.
  • Demonstrated excellence in leadership, decision/-making, and conflict resolution within an academic setting.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time/-management abilities, with a track record of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • In/-depth knowledge of national education policies, curriculum frameworks, and student assessment systems.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with staff, parents, and external partners.
  • Proficiency in educational management software, data analysis tools, and digital communication platforms.
  • Commitment to ethical leadership, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning
