Job Description

Job Summary:
The Headmistress is responsible for providing strong academic and administrative leadership to ensure the smooth functioning of the school. She will oversee curriculum implementation, staff management, student development, parent communication, and compliance with educational standards to maintain a safe, disciplined, and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities1. Academic Leadership

  • Ensure effective implementation of curriculum and teaching standards.
  • Monitor lesson plans, classroom teaching, and student learning outcomes.
  • Introduce academic improvement strategies and innovative teaching methods.
  • Organize teacher training programs and professional development.

2. Administration & Management

  • Oversee day-to-day school operations.
  • Manage school timetables, academic calendars, examinations, and events.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of school records, policies, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with management/correspondent for policy updates and school development.

3. Staff Supervision

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate teachers and other staff members.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and provide guidance for performance improvement.
  • Ensure staff discipline, punctuality, and adherence to school values.

4. Student Welfare

  • Maintain student discipline and positive behaviour standards.
  • Address student grievances, special needs, and counselling requirements.
  • Promote extracurricular activities and holistic student development.

5. Parent & Community Relations

  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and school activities.
  • Handle parent meetings, feedback sessions, and conflict resolutions.
  • Build strong rapport with the community and stakeholders.

6. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with educational board norms and regulatory guidelines.
  • Oversee school safety protocols, child protection policies, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills Required

Education:

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Education (M.Ed/B.Ed preferred).
  • Additional qualifications in school administration are an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5–10 years of teaching experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership/administrative experience preferred.
