HEAD OF DESIGN - STYLE JUNKIIE

📍 Lower Parel, Mumbai | Full-time

Style Junkiie is a contemporary women’s fashion brand rooted in wearability, strong silhouettes, and a confident Bombay sensibility. We are looking for a Head of Design who can lead the design team, drive seasonal collections, and balance creative direction with commercial intelligence.

This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and fashion-led not corporate or process-only.

THE ROLE

As Head of Design, you will be responsible for owning the design direction end-to-end, from concept to final product, while mentoring the design team and working closely with the founder and production teams.

This is a working design leadership role, not a purely managerial position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead seasonal collection design (concept → silhouettes → samples → final range)

• Design key styles and hero silhouettes personally

• Guide and mentor senior and junior designers daily

• Ensure collections are commercially viable and brand-aligned

• Translate trend direction into sellable product, not runway concepts

• Oversee range planning, category splits, and design timelines

• Work closely with merchandising, production, and sampling teams

• Maintain consistency across design, fit, fabric, and detailing

• Actively participate in fittings, sampling reviews, and design edits

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & PROFILE (NON-NEGOTIABLE)

• 8–10+ years of experience in women’s fashion design

• Minimum 2 years in a Head of Design / Design Lead role at a fashion-led brand

• Strong experience in Indian contemporary / occasion / prêt-à-porter brands

• Proven track record of designing commercial collections that have sold well

• Deep understanding of silhouettes, fits, fabrics, and seasonal dressing

• Experience working in fast-paced, design-driven environments

THIS ROLE IS NOT SUITED FOR

• Purely corporate / mass-manufacturing backgrounds

• Candidates whose experience is limited to process, sourcing, or vendor management

• Designers without hands-on design ownership in recent roles

• Profiles from large conglomerates where design decisions are heavily diluted
