Head of Design Operations - Interior Design

Aquis Search is currently assisting our client, a premier interior design studio, in their search for a Deputy Center Head / Head of Design Operations based in Mumbai (Thane).

This is a critical second-in-command role at the Experience Centre—ideal for a design delivery leader who can seamlessly translate creative vision into operational excellence. The role reports directly to the Centre Head and will focus on elevating design execution, team performance, and customer satisfaction at scale.

About the Role:

You will lead all aspects of design operations and execution within the Centre—owning the end-to-end design journey from client brief to final handover. With a focus on systems, people, and processes, you will ensure that the brand’s design ethos is consistently delivered while enabling growth, speed, and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the full design execution lifecycle—from requirement mapping and planning to sign-offs and handovers.
• Institutionalize frameworks that bring design thinking, storytelling, and functionality to life across projects.
• Drive operational rigour through strong governance, TAT monitoring, and process standardisation.
• Lead, mentor, and upskill large design teams—creating a culture of creativity, accountability, and customer obsession.
• Address client escalations with empathy and agility, always balancing service recovery with brand standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Ops, Quality, Delivery) to ensure seamless execution across touchpoints.
• Implement SOPs, dashboards, and design metrics that enable performance visibility and continuous improvement.
• Partner with senior leadership on design innovations, customer archetypes, and space typology development.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• 15+ years of experience in interior design, project delivery, or design operations roles.
• Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Proven track record in scaling design execution teams and managing complex delivery pipelines.
• Strong operational and project management acumen with a deep understanding of customer needs.
• Passion for design, with the ability to balance creativity, speed, and commercial impact.
