Job Description

At Pixella, we are building India’s leading Centre of Excellence in Aviation & UAVs – a hub for deep-tech research, indigenous innovation, technology, testing & product development.

We’re looking for a Senior R&D Engineer.

Position: Head – Centre of Excellence (Aviation & UAVs)

Reports To: CTO & CEO

Location: NCR, Onsite

✨ What You’ll Do

  1. Lead advanced research in UAV aerodynamics, avionics, AI/ML, & autonomy
  2. Drive technology adoption in swarm drones, counter-drone systems, & BVLOS operations
  3. Build & mentor a team of engineers and innovators
  4. Develop next-gen UAV prototypes and oversee testing, compliance, & certification
  5. Collaborate with academia, regulators, & global aviation bodies

🎓 What We’re Looking For

Education: Bachelor’s / Master’s / PhD in Aerospace, Avionics, Robotics, AI/ML, Mechatronics, or Material Science

Experience (7–12 years) Proven track record in UAV R&D, innovation, & applied technology development. Strong leadership in cross-functional teams of engineers & researchers

Hands-on expertise with:

  1. Avionics & Flight Control Systems
  2. Propulsion (electric, hybrid, fuel-based)
  3. Lightweight composites & materials science
  4. Navigation systems (GPS, RTK/PPK, INS)
  5. Sensors & payloads: LiDAR, radar, EO/IR, thermal, multispectral, hyperspectral, aerial cinematography
  6. Camera & Imaging Systems: gimbal-mounted, stabilized, zoom, night-vision, AI-based processing
  7. Computer Vision & Gesture Control Systems
  8. AI/ML for autonomy, swarm intelligence, obstacle avoidance
  9. Communication systems: SDR, BVLOS, telemetry, IoT
  10. Energy systems: advanced batteries, hydrogen fuel cells

Skills

  1. CAD/CAE: ANSYS, CATIA
  2. Simulation: ROS, Gazebo, MATLAB
  3. AI frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV
  4. UAV flight controllers & mission planning software
  5. PCB design: Altium, EasyEDA, KiCad
  6. Programming: Python, C/C++, MATLAB, Java, ROS, SQL, embedded C
