Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Hardware Design Engineer located in Gurugram. The Hardware Design Engineer will be responsible for developing and designing electronics hardware, including creating circuit designs and hardware architecture for new products. The role also involves testing and optimizing designs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.

Role Summary

A Hardware Design Engineer with ~5 years of hands-on PCB design experience, capable of owning schematic, PCB layout, power design, and board bring-up end-to-end.

The role requires strong proficiency in Altium Designer, disciplined documentation practices, and the ability to design reliable, production-ready hardware, not just prototypes.

Core Technical Skills (Must-Have)

PCB & Schematic Design

5+ years of hands-on schematic design and PCB layout

Strong experience designing 2-layer, 4-layer, and 6-layer PCBs

Clear ownership of end-to-end board design (concept → schematic → layout → bring-up → respin)

Experience designing mixed-signal boards (digital + analog + power)

Altium Designer (Critical)

Advanced proficiency in Altium Designer

Comfortable with:

Constraint-driven design (clearances, impedance, creepage)

Custom component libraries and footprints

Variant management

Hierarchical schematics

PCB rules, DRC, and manufacturing checks

Experience generating:

Gerbers

Drill files

Pick-and-place

Assembly drawings

Fabrication notes

Familiarity with Altium documentation features (outputs, draftsman, PDFs)

Power & Hardware Fundamentals

Strong understanding of:

Power tree design

LDOs, buck/boost converters

Power sequencing

Reverse polarity protection

TVS diodes, ESD protection

Ability to design for:

Noise immunity

Grounding strategy

Decoupling and bulk capacitance

Thermal considerations

Board Bring-Up & Debugging

Proven experience with first-time board bring-up

Comfortable debugging:

Power rails

Clock issues

Firmware knowledge is a plus, but not required — must understand HW–FW interaction

Manufacturing & Documentation (Very Important)

Strong documentation discipline:

Schematic annotations

Design notes

BOM with alternates

Assembly & test instructions

Experience supporting:

Prototype builds

Pilot production

Manufacturing feedback and respins

Awareness of:

DFM / DFA principles

Basic IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-7351 awareness is sufficient)

Soft Skills & Work Style

Can work independently with minimal hand-holding

Comfortable owning multiple boards in parallel

Able to explain design decisions clearly (internally and to vendors)

Calm, methodical approach to debugging and respins

Does not rely on trial-and-error guessing

Nice-to-Have (Differentiators)

EMI / EMC awareness

Experience with safety-critical or regulated products (medical, automotive, industrial)

Experience reviewing other engineers’ schematics and layouts

Exposure to version control for hardware files

Experience mentoring junior hardware engineers
