Purpose of Job:

The Insurance Technical Leader – PAS will be responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of Java/J2EE-based Policy Administration Systems for Life and Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance. The role combines strong hands-on technical expertise, team leadership, and insurance domain understanding, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and business-aligned PAS solutions.

This role is ideal for a technically strong professional who can lead development teams, own technical decisions, and work closely with business and architecture stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership

• Lead a team of developers working on Java/J2EE-based PAS applications.
• Own technical design and implementation decisions for PAS modules and integrations.
• Guide teams on coding standards, design patterns, performance, and best practices

Application Development & Design

• Design and develop PAS components covering:
• Policy configuration and rules
• Underwriting and policy issuance
• Endorsements, renewals, and cancellations
• Integration with billing and claims systems
• Ensure clean, modular, and maintainable Java/J2EE application architecture.

Database & Data Design

• Design and review relational database models for PAS systems.
• Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database performance for high-volume insurance data.
• Ensure data consistency, auditability, and regulatory compliance

Insurance Domain Ownership

• Act as a technical SME for insurance policy lifecycle processes.
• Translate functional insurance requirements into detailed technical solutions.
• Work closely with business analysts and domain teams to ensure accurate implementation.

Integration & Platform Coordination

• Implement and support integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, XML/JSON, and messaging.
• Coordinate with platform, DevOps, and QA teams for build, deployment, and releases

Quality & Delivery

• Perform code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and production support.
• Ensure adherence to timelines, quality benchmarks, and delivery commitments.
• Support issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvements.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Around 8-10 years of experience in enterprise application development within the insurance domain.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java/J2EE technologies and enterprise application servers.
• Excellent expertise in relational databases, including data modeling and performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of Policy Administration Systems (PAS) and insurance workflows.
• Experience across the insurance policy lifecycle:
• Quotation and underwriting
• Policy issuance and servicing
• Endorsements, renewals, and cancellations
• Experience with API-based integrations (REST/SOAP).
• Ability to lead teams, mentor developers, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• B.Tech / BE (Engineering) or MCA
• Experience working in multi-line insurance environments dealing with both P&C and Life products.
• Familiarity with insurance regulatory compliance and domain-specific workflows.
