Freelance Network Engineer – Route Aggregation & Data Center Projects

Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Freelance Network Engineer to lead and support a large-scale data center project focused on route aggregation and management-plane summarization. The engineer will validate BGP aggregation behavior, analyze configuration diffs, coordinate phased deployments, and prepare Change Management (CM) plans while working within automated configuration workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of route aggregation across management-plane boundaries in multi-fabric data center environments

• Validate BGP route aggregation behavior across Juniper, Arista, or Cisco platforms

• Analyze configuration diffs to ensure safe and predictable routing changes

• Coordinate Phase 1 and Phase 2 deployments with network engineering teams

• Prepare Change Management documentation, rollback strategies, and risk assessments

• Work with Git and YAML-based automation pipelines for configuration staging

• Provide post-deployment validation and reporting to stakeholders

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on knowledge of BGP, route summarization, and data center network design

• Experience with Juniper, Arista, or Cisco routing platforms

• Ability to analyze route convergence, prefix advertisement behavior, and aggregated summaries

• Experience with Git workflows, configuration diffs, YAML artifacts, and code reviews

• Familiarity with automation tools such as Meridian, NCPCLI, or Ansible

• Experience preparing and executing Change Management plans

• Strong documentation and communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with brownfield data center migrations

• Exposure to multi-vendor routing fabrics

• Familiarity with route telemetry and observability tooling
