Job Description

Role Overview: You will be responsible for leading the mechanical and/or electrical design of various types of transformers, ensuring designs meet customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution from concept to delivery. Additionally, you may mentor engineers, diagnose and resolve design-related issues, conduct design calculations and simulations, support prototyping and testing, and prepare comprehensive design documentation. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the mechanical and/or electrical design of transformers focusing on design quality, quantity, and on-time deliverables - Utilize extensive experience in transformer design including enclosure design, cable entry, cooling system integration, and security features - Work closely with Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and R&D teams for project execution - Potentially mentor engineers, contribute to knowledge sharing, and lead a high-performing technical team - Diagnose and resolve complex design-related issues during manufacturing, testing, or field operation - Conduct design calculations, stress analysis, thermal analysis, and other simulations to validate designs - Collaborate with manufacturing and testing teams during prototype development and testing phases - Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation including BOMs, technical specifications, test procedures, and design reports - Define and monitor engineering metrics for design quality, throughput, and continuous improvement - Serve as an engineering liaison with key customers, participate in customer audits, design reviews, and acceptance testing - Balance design performance with cost optimization and manufacturability, identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies - Participate in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new engineers - Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international standards, safety regulations, and customer-specific requirements - Identify and implement design improvements to enhance product performance and reduce manufacturing costs - Ensure all design and engineering activities follow safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements Qualifications Required: - Bachelors or masters degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering - 15 to 20 years of progressive experience in heavy electrical products such as Transformers/Switchgears - Demonstrable experience in handling the Engineering function of pad-mounted transformers - Strong understanding of transformer theory, principles of operation, and construction - Knowledge of relevant industry standards such as ANSI/IEEE C57, IEC 60076 series - Experience in renewable energy systems, electric vehicle technology, Data center, or industrial automation - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team - Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) or CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), MATLAB, VLN, Anderson, thermal and stress analysis tools are a plus Role Overview: You will be responsible for leading the mechanical and/or electrical design of various types of transformers, ensuring designs meet customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements.
