Role Overview
As an Engineering Manager II, you will guide the technical strategy, lead teams through complex business and engineering challenges, and directly shape the global financial integrity of our platform.
- You will lead and mentor a team of engineers in developing backend systems and services.
- You will work closely with product managers, tax managers, tax operations, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.

- Lead and grow a team of engineers building tax calculation services, self-serve tools, and regression testing frameworks.
- Define and execute the technical strategy across multiple business lines and complex regulatory domains.
- Collaborate closely with product, finance, legal, and operations to deliver accurate, compliant, and scalable tax solutions.
- Manage escalations from senior leadership with composure, providing clear communication and timely resolution.
- Mentor, coach, and develop engineers while cultivating a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
- Basic Qualifications -
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in engineering management roles.
- Strong technical foundation in distributed systems, financial systems, or other large-scale backend services.
- Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality solutions while managing cross-functional dependencies.
- Preferred Qualifications -
- Experience driving architecture and long-term technical strategy for mission-critical systems.
- Track record of building developer tooling, self-serve platforms, or scalable automation frameworks.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to handle executive-level escalations under pressure.
- Background in fintech, payments, tax, or compliance-heavy domains.
