Job Summary


Hardware Design Engineer


MIL-grade hardware design


Key Responsibilities


Electrical Interfaces & Payload Integration

  • Design and integrate 

    MIL-grade connectors

     (D-Type, Circular) for robust payload interfacing.
  • Develop 

    Twisted-Shielded (TS) harnesses

     to ensure EMI/EMC compliance.
  • Generate 

    Configuration Controlled Electrical Interface Details (EID)

     covering:
  • Signal pin mapping
  • Wire gauge selection
  • Shielding and twisting standards


RF Payload Design & Frequency Management

  • Conduct 

    frequency interference studies

     to finalize RF payload parameters (frequency, power, sensitivity).
  • Handle 

    regulatory clearances

     (ITU and national agencies) for frequency allocation.
  • Optimize 

    antenna placement

     and assess 

    independent mounting feasibility

    .


Power Management & System Protection

  • Design 

    low-power payload power systems

     (24–36V DC, ≤10W preferred).
  • Develop 

    DC/DC converters

     with:
  • EMI filtering
  • Short-circuit protection
  • Over-voltage control
  • Analyze 

    power phase requirements

     for RF-ground transmission.
  • Integrate 

    protective fuses

     and safety mechanisms for critical systems.


Telemetry & Data Acquisition

  • Configure telemetry through 

    analog/digital outputs

     (+/-5V, 0/5V) and 

    RS485

     as per ISRO standards.
  • Optimize telemetry 

    bandwidth usage (≤40 Kbps)

     and 

    sampling rate (up to 244 samples/sec)

    .
  • Design 

    independent telemetry systems

     with high data rate capabilities.
  • Define:
  • Input voltage ranges
  • Bit resolution
  • Telemetry format structure


Telecommand & Payload Control

  • Implement 

    ON/OFF switching logic

     and 

    telecommand execution

     for autonomous payload control.
  • Build 

    mode logic

     for payloads with multiple operational states.
  • Integrate 

    telecommand reception

     via 

    DRY contact relays

     or 

    RS485

    .


Documentation & Compliance

  • Perform 

    Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)

     for deployable systems.
  • Collaborate with system engineering teams for 

    interface validation and verification

    .
  • Ensure 

    compliance with aerospace electrical standards

     and payload integration guidelines.


Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Expertise in 

    aerospace-grade hardware and electrical system design

    .


Experience with:

  • MIL-grade components

     and harnessing
  • EMI/EMC compliance testing

  • RF payload and antenna systems

  • DC/DC converters and power protection circuits

  • Telemetry and telecommand protocols (RS485, analog/digital I/Os)

  • Strong skills in hardware validation

    test documentation

    , and 

    compliance reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in 

    Mechatronics, Electrical and Electronics Engineer.

  • Previous experience in satellite payload integration

     and 

    aerospace documentation standards

  • Familiarity with 

    FMECA

    aerospace failure analysis

    , and 

    hardware validation processes

    .
