Job Description

Role Overview and Responsibilities:

Senior Earth Station Systems Engineering

This position involves overseeing the design and implementation of Earth Station systems, optimizing performance for current and future satellite missions, and leading a team of engineers. The Manager will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of satellite communication projects at Dhruva Space.


Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design and implement Earth Station systems, including RF systems, antennas, baseband equipment, and network infrastructure.
  • Perform link budget analysis, coverage assessments, and end-to-end system design for satellite communications.
  • Ensure the scalability, efficiency, and reliability of ground systems to support current and future satellite missions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering technical growth and innovation.
  • Collaborate with satellite mission teams, network operations, and external partners to align Earth Station capabilities with mission objectives.
  • Act as a technical authority and decision-maker for critical ground system engineering tasks.
  • Oversee the integration and testing of Earth Station subsystems to ensure seamless performance.
  • Develop and execute acceptance test plans, Factory tests (FAT), and Site Acceptance tests (SATs).
  • Optimize antenna pointing, satellite tracking, and RF subsystem performance using advanced calibration techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as ITU, CCSDS, and applicable local/national laws.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all systems, processes, and engineering changes as per industry standards.
  • Identify emerging technologies and trends in satellite ground systems and incorporate them into future designs.
  • Evaluate vendor solutions, tools, and software to enhance the performance and capabilities of ground systems.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and promote innovation within the team.
  • Plan and execute Earth Station development projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project goals, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Maintain clear communication with stakeholders to manage expectations and provide updates on project progress.
  • Ability to work flexible hours during satellite launches.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in satellite ground systems or earth station design and deployment.
  • Proven leadership in managing engineering teams and complex technical projects.
  • Expertise in RF system design, modems, antenna control units, and TT&C systems.
  • Strong knowledge of link budgets, signal processing, and interference analysis.
  • Familiarity with standards such as DVB-S2/S2X, CCSDS protocols, and ITU regulations.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based LEO Earth Station/Getway architectures.
  • Positive feedback on leadership, mentoring, and collaboration from team members and stakeholders.
