Primary role:

Role & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality outpatient and inpatient clinical care for complex gastroenterology and hepatology cases, ensuring evidence-based diagnosis and treatment plans.
• Perform diagnostic and advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures including upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP and EUS with documented procedural quality and safety.
• Manage acute GI emergencies and complications (GI bleeding, biliary pancreatitis, variceal bleeding) in coordination with multidisciplinary teams and ICU services.
• Lead hepatology services including liver disease workup, non-invasive fibrosis assessment (FibroScan), and care for cirrhosis and portal hypertension patients.
• Contribute to clinical governance—maintain procedure logs, participate in morbidity & mortality reviews, and implement endoscopy quality metrics and infection-control protocols.
• Supervise and mentor junior doctors, trainees, and nursing staff; participate in academic activities, clinical research, and continuing medical education.
  

Skills & Qualifications

• DM/DrNB in Gastroenterology
• Proven competency in ERCP
• Proven competency in Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
• Colonoscopy and Upper GI Endoscopy expertise
• Experience with therapeutic endoscopy (hemostasis, dilation, stenting)
• Knowledge of hepatology management and non-invasive fibrosis assessment (FibroScan)
  

Preferred

• Prior experience in a tertiary-care endoscopy unit
• Track record of clinical research or publications in gastroenterology/hepatology
• Experience in training/teaching postgraduate trainees
