Job Description

As the District Coordinator for the Land Reforestation & Restoration Project in the Terai districts of Northern West Bengal, including Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri & Alipurduar, you will be responsible for leading a team of 6-10 Field Officers in conducting surveys of marginal, degraded, and fallow agricultural land parcels. Your role will involve overseeing field operations, ensuring data quality, facilitating community engagement, and collaborating with local stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the project. Your key responsibilities will include supervising and guiding Field Officers in their activities, coordinating field operations for efficient data collection, monitoring and reviewing data quality, conducting community engagement activities, liaising with stakeholders, managing data related to land conditions and vegetation types, training Field Officers in survey and GIS apps, supporting project implementation, and addressing any challenges that arise during field activities. To excel in this role, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field (a Master's degree is preferred) and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in field project management, community engagement, or land assessment projects. You should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, a good understanding of land use patterns and reforestation/restoration techniques, proficiency in GIS and mapping tools, and the ability to work effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders. This position will require you to engage in extensive fieldwork in rural and remote areas, travel frequently, and work in varying climatic conditions.
