Job Purpose: Lead, strategize and control sustainable cost-effective procurement and availability of pulp, packaging material, inbound bulk logistics operations, port operations services to minimize risk, optimize inventory, while ensuring compliance at all times. Also lead functional digital transformation journey to give a competitive edge to PF business. Job scope includes managing complete pulp supply chain for all the 7 VSF plants in India Overseas.
Job Context Major Challenges: VSF business having 7 units (India, China SEA). Produciton capacity of 1.3 mil tons per year. Total procurement logistics value is ~Rs 9000 Crs.
In this overall context the Central Procurement Cell and Pulp, Packaging Inbound Logistics Department has been developed with a view toprovide strategic lead and support to improve business competitiveness for Pulp, Packaging, Inbound Logistics Services. Objective is to provideefficiency in cost quality, process standardisation, knowledge integration and synergy in procurement.
This function in CPC involves annual spend of ~ Rs. 9000 Crores and has the critical role in business.
The efficiency of the portfolio directly impacts the business, since delay or failure in delivery will have a cascading effect and can result in plantstoppages
Major Challenges:
Ensuring pulp supply continuity across geography
Seamless communication between 7 VSF plants 9 pulp resources.
Maintain managing inventory levels for key raw material
Alternate pulp supplier development
Inland logistics operation - Coordination, communications with Transporters, internal users for planning and execution.
On time delivery of quality material
Key Result Areas Supporting Actions Procurement Negotiation, Finalisation (Pulp, Packaging Logistics) 1. RFQ, Comparative negotiation
2. Involve in technical commercial discussions with vendors. 3. To carry out internal working, thereby sending Counter Bids to the vendors 4. Prepare approval note highlighting the facts and process followed. 5. Prepare check and forward orders for signature as per delegation manuals. 6. Follow up for timely execution of PO. 7. Ensuring smooth execution by providing timely support to the vendors. 8. To monitor material rejection reports and take necessary action for improvement 9. To ensure timely placement of Vehicles. 10. To monitor delivery index for Packing Materials and take necessary action by communicating to the vendors for future orders. Pulp Supply Chain Inventory management 1. Ensuring continuity in pulp supply to all the VSF plants 2. Maintain manage optimum inventory across VSF plants 3. To develop alternate pulp sources 4. Seamless communication between 7 VSF plants 9 pulpresources, technical, commercial. 5. Cost optimization through procuring non prime, blendoptimization 6. Allocation planning and close monitoring of pulp movement, shipment tracking Vendor Development 1. Exploring new vendors for creating competition to have effective negotiation. 2. Interaction with various other companies as well for similar requirement. 3. Reviewing existing vendors performance as well in terms of delivery, commitment, etc. Cost Control 1. Logistics cost optimization 2. Cheaper pulp arrangements alternate vendor, non-prime procurement 3. Identify and implement consolidation opportunities across units 4. Interaction with other group units as well as outside group for current price trends. 5. Keep our-self updated about market trends. 6. Cost saving through spec/quality optimization. 7. By introducing new vendors, thereby creating competition System improvement 1. Identifying areas of improvement and discussing the same with the concerned team for implementation. 2.
