Plan, organize, deploy and maintain IT solutions for marketing offices across the country & at plant and GRC Unit at Baroda, so as to ensure uninterrupted and easy availability of information base for facilitating processing, maintenance of records/data which help in management control, system perfection, decision-making and cost optimization, considering changing needs of the business.
Job Context & Major Challenges
Birla White (BW) is the White Cement division of UltraTech Cement Limited and is a P&L centre. During last 10 years Birla White has grown from a single commodity product to significant value added and specialty products, such as Wall Care Putty, Textura, Level Plast, Birla White liquid primer, GRC, 3 variants of fragrance putty, WallSeal waterproofing putty, etc. Further these products are offered in 84 varied SKUs ranging from 1kg pack to 50kg pack, with multiple packing requirements. Birla White has made foray into White Cement based liquid prime & powder distemper - which is one of its kind in the world. Current capacity of liquid primer is 8000 KL per annum and powder distemper 34000 MT per annum. With the commissioning of liquid primer facility in Birla White Katni, the liquid primer capacity will further increase by 25000 KL per annum.The thrust area for job holder is to improve awareness of user, management appreciation of IT, improve system response & uptime, arrange timely maintenance of hardware, up-gradation of software & help in reducing generation, movement & storage of papers.
Major Challenges
- To keep pace with rapid technological challenges due to fast obsoletion & remote location of the unit.
- Changing and upgrading IT solutions based on changing needs of the organization, considering new value added products, expansion of production facilities, changes of marketing instrumental agencies etc.
- Creating awareness of e-business application amongst marketing employees, C&F agents, customers and suppliers.
- Assessing the problems and information needs of all India marketing employees at all levels and C&F agents by interacting with them over phone, mail or by personal interaction.
- Training and guiding marketing employees and C&F agent employees on processes/information available on web application.

KRA1 Planning & Deployment Of IT Resources
Plan the requirement and deploy the IT resources including manpower, hardware, software and bandwidth to meet the Unit requirements *Review utilization of existing resources.
- Assess additional requirements based on previous year and current.
- Prepare and submit proposal to management and implement the solutions once approved
- Formulate, implement and review IT plan for the unit.
KRA2 Operations
Ensure uninterrupted operations of the IT systems to support the unit requirements. * Put in place necessary basic infrastructure like proper power conditioning, air conditioning, dust-proofing, etc for the critical equipment like Servers, WAN equipment, etc
- Ensure regular back up of data
- Support to users on round the clock basis
- Put in place a reliable security and authorization system to eliminate damage or loss to data.
- Keep a disaster recovery plan ready.
KRA3 Web Application for marketing
Develop, design and ensure web application system for marketing. * Monitoring action plan

KRA5 Budget Control
Monitor and control the Dept budget to optimize operating cost. * Prepare annual budgets for Hardware, software, consumables etc.
